Not happy with whoever decided you can't have a person come with you inside. I have to have a driver and now my driver is told to wait outside and it is 29 degrees. So I guess they have to waste gas in the car to stay warm or drive somewhere to wait, but not many places open this early. The grocery store has more people than here. A little too overly cautious. We all wear masks which should be sufficient. I trusted a team of doctors and nurses to do surgery on me and there were lots of people around me. Three or four people in a room with masks isn't going to hurt anyone.

I'll be the first one to praise a Healthcare provider for exceptional service, however, if I am to be honest, in terms of graciousness and attitude of the staff, they are sorely lacking. On more than one occasion the staff has responded in a confrontational manner. Rather than being pleasant, they seem to think they are there for some other reason than the patient. As a former healthcare administrator, I would not tolerate this unprofessional behavior. Let's be real, would you (providers) accept this behavior if you were paying for this service. Not!nnUpdate: I had to go to Saxony ER for a possible stroke on October 1, 2020. With the exception of one RN (CC) the professionalism of the nursing and medical staff was appalling — according to IU Patients Rights, I believe that numerous patient rights were violated. I was in the ER for approximately 10 hours. Despite numerous attempts to get an accurate update on my condition, I never received one. Furthermore, despite having numerous MRI s of my brain with a Surgical Implant in my skull (BAHA) they refused to do the MRI until AFTER I called the BAHA manufacturer who then explained it was ok to do the MRI. I hate to think what might have happened had I actually had a stroke and did not receive timely intervention!!! Finally, I was admitted. The next day my assigned nurse (RN) saw me at the very beginning of the shift and the next time when I was being discharged that afternoon despite several attempts by nurses call bell to request her assistance earlier that day. This was a totally frustrating and extremely stressful experience — one that could have exasperated my physical condition and most certainly affected my mental state. My wife and I will never use IU Saxony emergency services or be admitted to the hospital again.

The only ER visit I’ve had where I (am) was in more pain than when I arrived. I was there just before a shift was ending. The ER is rarely busy and this was no exception. There’s no excuse for rushing me in and out. I had to beg for X-rays. I knew I had a broken bone. It was obvious. Finally the doctor agreed and confirmed my broken bone. Still, I was given nothing more than some gauze and a single use packet of bacitracin. Later the RN entered to say she needed to scan was wrist code and the bacitracin packet for billing. I asked a question the RN didn’t know. She informed me she couldn’t ask the doctor because he had already left. Thanks Dr. Robert W. Collins, M.D.now I have to wait five (5) days to see a doctor who cares about his patients. In the meantime, I’ll take Tylenol as you suggested and cross my fingers. Side note, this is the 2nd time I have had an untreated broken bone by IU Health Saxony (1 ER & 1 GP) Save time and money. Go to OrthoIndy instead.
