If I could give it less than one star I would. I took my mother there Monday morning June 8th at 3am. She could not walk and they wouldn’t help me get her into a wheelchair at all they just sat at their desks and watched me struggle. I was surprised to get a call a little over 3 hours later saying to come pick her up, thankfully they helped her get into the car this time although she was in the exact same condition if not worse. The nurse said she had the stomach flu, that didn’t seem right to me but I trusted them. I started giving her the medicine they prescribed. After 30 hours of being released from the DeKalb ER she still couldn’t walk so I decided to take her to the Parkview Fort Wayne ER who informed me she had a STROKE. It could have been treated 6 hours after it happened but instead went untreated for 40+ hours because of incompetence, they have her records and could easily check and see she is high risk for one. Instead they told her they thought she was drunk. Slurred speech, high blood pressure, trouble walking ALL SIGNS of a stroke!!! It’s also nice to know that if someone were to come in there drunk/with alcohol poisoning they would get laughed at and not get serious help. I’m so upset I wasted my time here and put my mom through the hassle of getting in and out of the car, I know I could have called an ambulance but I live very close by and it seemed pointless. Please don’t waste your time here either, save yourself the trouble, get some real help if you can, and go to Parkview Fort Wayne. DeKalb hospital’s ER is notorious for being the biggest joke I wouldn’t even take my dog there!!

I was seen in the ER in timely caring manner. The ER was busy though the night and getting follow up care took some time. When I finally got to see Dr. to review all xrays that she ordered, the time to get dismissed went fast. All the staff is very professional and caring.

I had a terrible experience. Dr Johnson attempted to diagnose me with strep throat without doing a swab test. I asked for a swab test. It was performed and the results were negative so the doctor decided to diagnose me with an upper respiratory infection. Mind you the doctor had not listened to my lungs or heart what so ever. The only contact the doctor and I had was checking my ears and throat. Among the diagnoses was also injury of the head which I did not have. I’m extremely disappointed with the way this doctor handled me coming into the ER. I felt as tho I was just being rushed out without even actually trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I most definitely do not have an upper respiratory infection or a head injury. I will not be attempting to go back to Parkview DeKalb again. I would much rather drive to Fort Wayne. If I could rate this with zero stars I would but unfortunately that’s not an option.

Had a relative admitted overnight at Parkview Dekalb. We had incredible service and care. The staff was attentive and answered questions well. The facility was clean and comfortable. Overall, it exceeded my expectations, and I would use this facility again.

My 89-year-old mother was taken by EMS to Parkview DeKalb Health where she was treated for a UTI resulting in temporary disorientation. She was treated with respect and care, and sent home a few hours later.nThe staff was efficient, kind and thorough.nThank you for your professionalism.nnSusan Carpenter
