Born here and 57 year patient, will not go here ever again because as the other reviews state, they charge so much more than any other providers, have discussed this with them and staff agrees but says higher ups greedy, such a shame! I now go elsewhere.

I was traveling for work, and I got strep throat. The pain was excruciating, and I had to go to the ER. they wouldn't give me anything that actually helped with the pain, so I had to go back the next day. Then they finally gave me pain medicine so that I could sleep. It ended up costing $5600. This is a Christian hospital that robs the sick. I am totally disgusted with them. I am not a junkie, despite the way they treated me. Looking back now, I wish I knew one though it would have saved me a lot of money.

While the staff was friendly and facility was nice I called ahead of time to find out the cost of a diagnostic ultrasound for my daughter and was given a range $95 -$116 yet charged $1003. This was for a 15 minute non emergency, scheduled imaging appointment that I checked pricing before scheduling and attempted to confirm at check in. When I brought my daughter to St. Francis Imaging I confirmed the test that was being ordered and asked again about pricing. The agent told me should couldn't tell me how much it would be because she has no way of knowing how much insurance would actually pay. I asked how much the test would be if I didn't have insurance and was paying out of pocket so I would know worse case. She could not tell me. I recapped my phone call and she said it would be whatever they said when I called. We received a bill for $1003.00 after the test. I disputed the bill and the appealed it. They had performed a second test, which I did not authorize, nor did they discuss with me when I expressed concern over the cost of the test the doctor ordered. I was told I would hear back in writing within 3 week with a response to my appeal. I have gone through this process 3 times and have never received the written acknowledgement of the appeal. Date of service was 9/26/16. They have since turned the account over to collections rather than follow through with the appeal decision as promised. Even the response I received to original dispute, which was the only written acknowledgment I received, referred to the wrong details of the case and was not even about my complaint. I had received excellent care from St. Francis over the years. I am very disappointed that this dispute and appeal was not given the attention and consideration that I was assured it would. It's unreasonable that a service provider would A) not be able to tell a client accurately how much a service is going to cost in a worse case scenario and B) do additional tests and charge when it was very clear from the conversation ahead of time that I was expecting one test to be performed and concerned about those costs. This is contrary to the mission Franciscan Health and I do hope that the proper administrative staff sees this and realizes there is a problem in the organization. While I have paid the bill, we will be getting our care elsewhere in the future. We cannot afford to have test costs under quoted and additional tests to performed without permission nor the apathy or lack of follow through that received on this matter. Escalating this to collections rather than seeing the appeal process through as promised is inexcusable.
