Garden Deli and Grill

when I first moved to Leonia last year, I was anticipating on this deli to open so I can have closer access to food and snacks. I’ve been coming here CONSISTENTLY since they opened. In the beginning their prices were DECENT but as of recently I’ve noticed when I come in the pricing is something different EVERY SINGLE TIME. Now, I am not the one to throw the race card often but in this case I feel that as a young black female I’m being taken advantage of. I’ve always been sweet AND polite to the owner as well as his employees. I’ve ALSO made sure to leave tips when I have the extra cash. sadly today was the LAST TIME I will be stepping my foot in this establishment. On Monday 11/16 I ordered a turkey AND provolone sandwich. When I payed for my sandwich, chips, and drink the total came to $10? Which I thought was a little strange.. anyhow when I arrived home and took a bite of my sandwich it was NO CHEESE. I also asked for raw onion and NONE was added. I called the store to explain and I was told I could come in to get a remake for their inconvenience. I just went there TODAY 11/21 to get my remake and was sadly told LAST MINUTE that I would be receiving a “discount” on the sandwich rather than it being taken care of like I was told a few days earlier. The owner looked me dead in my face and said the sandwich will be $5 instead of the $6-7 that they originally price. For one the sandwich is NO WHERE NEAR worth that price! I can walk to Broad Ave and go to Happy Market and get a FULL sandwich UNDER $5. it’s not about the food but more so the PRINCIPAL of the situation. The fact that I WAS a loyal customer why would you treat me and or the situation as such? I’ve been in the food industry 6 YEARS! And this NOT how you treat your LOYAL, PAYING customers PERIOD!

This place is amazing. The restaurant is spotless, the bathrooms are spotless, the service is incredible. Maida and Roberto provided such great service to my family and I. I will definitely be back!

Order from here a few times. Prices are great and staff is awesome. Always fast and food is amazing.
