SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Fenton

I had a hysterectomy done here in November 2020 with a doctor I’ve been with for 9 years. This was my first experience with St. Clare’s hospital, though. Everyone on staff was wonderful. All my nurses were fantastic - honestly every one of them deserved a daisy. They were respectful, kind, attentive, and caring. I recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone. And the food was excellent!!!!

Have been very happy with St. Clare until this weekend. My 88 year old mother was sent there from the nursing home because her knee replacement became dislocated which has happened before because of her weight lose. THE X-RAY TECH X-RAYED THE WRONG KNEE. They said nothing was wrong with her knee and sent her back to the nursing home. She is now in the ER again. Hopefully they will get it correct this time. Thanks to them and the nursing home (that's another story) she was in pain all weekend. On top of that they never called me to inform me on her knee or that they were sending her back to the nursing home. I called them and had to talk to 3 people before they could tell me she had been discharged. POOR SERVICE.

Horrible emergency department. Wait for 3 hours then 30 min in room and discharged, we thought my husband was having a stroke. Doctor actually said I'm trying to think of something we could do for you. 4 vials of blood left out on counter. They said it was extra just in case. Husbands name was not on it anywhere. Nurse tossed it in garbage. Overall horrible experience.

Please do not go to the emergency room at this hospital. This is what happened to me. I fell on black ice in January. After not getting any resolution with Mercy in Washington, I thought it would be a good idea to seek a second opinion. I did this in March right before the outbreak. However, after showing them my swollen right hand, left knee, ankle and leg, the doctor informed me she would not x-ray my leg because Mercy had not x-rayed it.nnI am now 5 months past my fall date. My knee, leg, ankle and hand are still swollen. By the end of the night, I can barely walk and my hand gets so swollen it will not move. I have nerve damage, too. It feels like pins and needles are going through my hand. My leg will start to get tingly. Without x-rays of the calf, I will never know why I cannot feel bone where there is supposed to be none. I kept telling the doctor I do not feel normal pain. She just kept telling me that if it were broken I would feel it. How can I feel it with the spinal cord injury?? These doctors NEED TO LISTEN TO THEIR PATIENTS! QUIT PUTTING EVERY PATIENT INTO THE SAME MOLD!! WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT! GET TO KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH SO YOU CAN TREAT THE PATIENT PROPERLY INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM DISABLED!!nnI have a spinal cord injury, (which has been ignored by both hospitals) in my thoracic spine from a car accident. I do not feel regular pain just irritation. The pain is radiated to the spine. My back gets worse in the evening. I am lucky to get 4 hours of sleep a night.nnMercy in Washington isn't any better. Please, if your health insurance uses St. Luke's or BJC please use those hospitals and skip Mercy and SSM. They will make you disabled.nnEnded up back in an ER for other stuff. I finally had a doctor listen to me. He told me that my deformed wrist, hand and arm were NOT from a congenital defect but because of the fall. I pushed the ulna up into the elbow which the shoved the numerous up into the shoulder socket. Now I have even more permanent nerve damage. My leg was also BROKEN! MAYBE IF DOCTORS WOULD LISTEN TO THEIR PATIENTS RATHER ACTING LIKE EACH PERSON EXPERIENCES EVERYTHING THE SAME, WE WOULDN'T END UP BEING CRIPPLED! IT TOOK 5 1/2 MONTHS TO GET THE ANSWERS. IF THUS HOSPITAL WOULD GAVE DONE THEIR JOB AND LISTENED, MAYBE I WOULD HAVE HAD A BETTER OUTCOME.nnI was lied to by an MD that called me. He said that Fenton had ortho surgeons on staff. I just found out that was a lie. I am going to fix my arm, hand and all my injuries myself. I DO NOT TRUST ANY DOCTOR!nnAlso, their billing is horrible! They do not provide you with doctors that are on your insurance. If you have AMBETTER, DO NOT GO HERE! THEY FO NOT CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE DOCTORS ARE ON YOUR INSURANCE PLAN! THIS HAS NOW COST ME DEARLY!
