I do work for a local company and they pay me with a check drawn on First Citizens. As a single parent trying to scratch out a living it had been nice that they didn’t charge me to cash the check I get for the work. They now have a new supervisor that charged me, but more then charging me was how snotty the girl was to me when I asked about it. I got the “I’m a supervisor” attitude....nnI am both disappointed that $8 is a lot out of my $300 check. No I do not have an account there, an yes I’m sure they would say they are doing me a favor cashing a check for a non customer, however I accepted a check from their customer. If neither of us were a customer it would be a favor, but since it is money that has been deposited in their bank, all they did was make the check I accepted worth $8 less.nnI didn’t bother to point that out since she was already pretty snotty, but just something to think about if you choose to do business with them. The check you write is not worth the value you write on it if it can’t be cashed at your bank. Then the person you do business with gets to deal with snotty help....nnSince this is a Kansas side bank, I might suggest Wells Fargo since there are more branches, services, and I have asked them and was told they don’t charge to cash checks drawn on them. When I write my friends or people who do things for me a check for $300, it is worth $300. As a bonus I hope if someone goes to cash one of my checks they are treated professionally, and don’t get the “I’m a supervisor” attitude.
