Has anyone actually gotten an appointment here? I sure can't. I got a referral in May (after months of my GP not listening to me but that's another story) these guys tell me my referral isn't valid. I push for an appointment and after a few weeks of back and forth calling they finally say one doctor will see me. IN OCTOBER. whatever. I'm passive I'll take it. Then about a week and a half later the receptionist calls me and asks why I wanted my appointment out for so long. I explained to her the situation and that only one doctor would see me etc. She said that the other docs would understand if I explained it and moved my Appointment to late May. Not even later that day the office manager calls and asks why I change my appointment. I told her that it was THEM who called ME. Office manager didn't even apologize to me. Lo and behold the appointment I had before the change was already taken so I had to get one even further in OCTOBER (reminded again this was mid-may). For two months I sat on that appointment doing everything I could do that there was no way they could spin my condition back on me like everyone else has tried to. Now on July they say the doc needs that day off and I need to reschedule it again. Looking at about Christmas. Told them to cancel it.
Dr. Singaram is awesome! However, it's really frustrating to call or get an appointment... You have to wait 10-15 mins on the phone, and then when someone answers you can tell they are trying to do 10 things at once and barely paying attention to what you say to them.nnToday I tried to use their online patient portal to get the results of my labs from earlier this week. I couldn't log in, I tried to reset my password, but never received an email - so i called. The receptionist told me, Oh that hasn't worked for about a month! I told her they need to update their website!!! Then I asked if she could connect me with someone who could give me my lab results. She tried to transfer me, but no one picked up. So she took my number and I'm waiting for a call back.nnIt would really be great if they would spend the money to hire enough staff to keep up with their demand. It's painfully obvious that they are stretching their employees beyond their limits, and no one is able to keep up. It makes me feel really sorry for the people who work here. This is exceptionally frustrating when you get your bill for this specialty clinic - clearly there is no shortage of money coming in!
If I can leave NO stars, I would, but in order to leave a review, I Must give them 1 STAR.nThis is the WORST place. God forbid you need to call them, cause you won't get a person forever, and even IF you do actually get a person, you leave a message and it might be well over 24 hours before you hear back. I absolutely HATE needing to call them. Because it is the WORST, HORRIBLE experience I have ever had to deal with in my 57 years.nI know the nurses TRY, but it is JUST WAY TOO busy in this office that they can not keep up. I had a total thyroid removal due cancer and I have SEARCHED endlessly for a New Endocrinology office, to no avail. There is Not one in the Des MOINES area, At ALL!!! And all of the offices that once had offices are NOW in this office! They have the worst patient care here and at Mercy Hospital in general. The other departments I have had to deal within Mercy are hateful and act like you are Doing THEM A FAVOR. Like the Mercy West Blue horrible experience with the pre-registration department. Just plain hateful.nNext, when I go in for my six month check-up this Doctor forgets to renew my Thyroid meds, and before I know it, I need to call the office, after a long angonizing phone call then waiting game just to tell them to submit my prescription renewal. This is my life they are messing with, I NEED my thyroid meds, EVERYDAY! Why can't they remember to renew my meds, this is NOT AN OPIOID, maybe that is WHY!! NOT, JUST STUPID!nI could go on and on, I'm sure I will be submitting another review before long.nIf you want a good experience and a great patient care facility, don't go to Mercy and/or Diabetic and Endocrinology.
I was happy enough with the regular appointments and their truly wonderful CDEs, but anytime I needed them to send a prescription to a pharmacy or complete a prior authorization it took weeks or months and multiple calls from myself, pharmacies, and/or health insurance reps! Their lack of prompt response would have left me without needed pump and CGM supplies multiple times over the year and a half I was their patient had I not been as fortunate as I am to have a small stock pile of what I needed to get me through. I'm happy and relieved to be moving on to a new endo!
My experiences with IDEC run hot or cold. When I visit, things generally go very well, I'm seen on-time, labs are done quickly, and the staff is polite. However, trying to reach IDEC by telephone is the exact opposite. When you attempt to call, be ready to speak to an answering service that says IDEC isn't answering their phones or be on-hold for 20 minutes or more. It's very obvious the staff is overworked, as you can tell they are multi-tasking and trying to get off the phone with you as quickly as possible to get to the next call.nIn-person visit is great; telephone experience leaves much to be desired.
