I have been going to Pampered Pooch for over ten years. First my diabetic dog Jack and his sister Ledi. Now my puppy JJ. If you want your dog taken care of and to have fun this is your place. My dog Jack was diabetic and when I was out of the country I was always relieved he was there. Any medical needs he had we're more than taken care of. He also had so much fun. The place is very clean and we'll kept. The staff treats the dogs like their own. My newest puppy JJ goes to daycare three days a week and we have boarded him multiple times. For example he is allergic to cats so Val and the staff make sure he is no where around cats and give him his meds without missing a step. The kennels are always very clean. I just can't say enough about how wonderful they are. With my husband deployed it is so great they are there and I know I can count on them when times get really busy or even something like the weather is bad and JJ has pent up energy to play off. This past week I went to see my husband and boarded JJ for five nights and this was the longest so far as he is a one year old pup. When I picked him up of course he was excited to see me, but also just loved being there with any of the staff. I would highly recommend them you can trust them with your dog s life.
My pups love coming here! Whenever I leave town for a day or two and have to kennel my dogs, they come to Pampered Pooch. I have a Husky & GSD and they’re always very well taken care of and enjoy playing with the other dogs there.
Started to go there with my dog for training and later on for grooming and doggy daycare. Owner is amazing and so is the staff. Awesome people with a awesome business.
We are very pleased with the service we get for our dog. Thank you Pampered Pooch Bakery & Salon!! ud83dude00
When looking around for dog boarding places around Altoona so we didn’t have to travel too far, we found Pampered Pooch and it sounded very promising. I’ll walk you through my thoughts as I read through their website. First, it mentions this place isn’t like others because they have bigger kennels so your pup won’t be crammed the whole time you’re away... which we have two smaller pups who will be kenneled together so we thought that’d be perfect for them. Second, the rates were well into our budget which was another plus. Third, the site mentioned to bring their own food as they don’t like to change their diet which was good for us since our pups are picky. Lastly, the website assures you they have toys, treats and blankets for all your pups and really don’t have to worry about bringing your own. I liked that but knowing my pups I brought a blanket just to have our home scent on it as one of our pups has anxiety.nnAnyway, my experience. We were going on a short weekend trip - just a couple days - and decided to go here. We brought a bag full of their food and a blanket to throw in the kennel with them. We have a Yorkie-Poo and a Morkie. The Yorkie-Poo is dog aggressive but loves other humans and our Morkie. Our Morkie is anxiety ridden hence the blanket that smells like home. The lady that checked us in was very nice and made it seem like that was no big deal for either of them. This time around I didn’t really look in the windows at the kennels or anything but noticed it smelled bad inside. I shook it off and kissed our pups good bye. We came to pick them up and the same Lady had them running through a bunch of other dogs in which I said not to because of our Yorkie-Poo not liking other dogs.. apparently they forgot. Then I paid and grabbed the pups. Both dogs smelled of the kennel which I initially stated smelled really bad inside. When I lifted my Yorkie-Poo, the underside of him was all greasy/dried with pee. So.. it makes me think.. how long had he been laying in his pee? Was he ever let out? Why was his stomach full of pee? I unpacked the bag when we got home and everything inside stunk so bad and the whole baggie of food was gone. I KNOW our dogs did not eat all that. Wasn’t happy but we had the next weekend already booked and I’m one to give places and people second chances.nnThis weekend I the same two boarded for just two nights again. On drop off, there was another lady and I told her about our experience last time. She has a dramatic “awww” and said sorry about that. I reminded her about my Yorkie-Poo being aggressive and she said okay. We just picked them up today after two days and we waited outside while there was someone inside getting their dog. I looked in the window this time at the kennels and they were all rusted, dirty, the blankets had holes, were dirty and very dingy looking. I didn’t see any toys or anything laying around. We got inside and the lady went and got our backpack we had stuff in when dropped off and she handed us a plastic bag with a blanket that was clearly wet with what I can assume was pee and said sorry I didn’t have time to wash this. I said that wasn’t our blanket and she took it back. Then she went to get our pups and they weren’t on leashes (which they were dropped off with) and amongst other dogs which I reminded them AGAIN this time my Yorkie-Poo can’t be around other dogs. We luckily got away with no incidents but still. I get home to unpack the backpack and pulled out the blanket I left for our little Morkie and 1) it was perfectly folded like I had folded it initially meaning they never took it out and also it smelled so bad. Also inside the bag was our full baggie of food and some was spilled in the bottom of our backpack. Also there were 3 bags of treats that belonged to someone else.nnI just can’t with this place. Don’t believe me? Go there and just look in the windows or even stick your head inside the door. You’ll change your mind quick.
