By chance, I met the General Manager of the Jailhouse Motel when I was savoring an exceptional, Euro-quality cappuccino next door at The Cup Coffee Shop and his kindness led me to a fabulous room and a fond memory of many from my short visit to Ely. Clean rooms, kind staff, and loads of entertainment inside and out for the gambling inclined. I went to bed early, slept well and drank more coffee at The Cup in the morning!
The place is fine but their night shift front desk clerk 'Andy' is not fit for customer service. I attempted to check in after a 10 hour drive and was greeted with hostility and a lack of effort from their staff. I would stay at another venue.
They took excellent care of the rooms! Toilets we're fickle though and no microwaves in the room.
The only thing this place has going for it is that the staff is friendly.
The room smelled like a gross disinfectant when we walked in and the floor sloped like mad.
The bed was way too soft, there were ants in the bathroom, and there were noisy people staying at the place who, both nights we stayed, caused a huge commotion outside at 3 and 4 am.
It's a place to flop, but we won't stay here again.
Staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. They really know the history of the town. Rooms are really clean for the age of the hotel and well kept. The casino and restaurants are good. They have a nice bar with a great tender(when I was there). We really enjoyed our stay. We had two young child and the park was a 3 minute walk for them, super easy for them to find on their own. Recommend you stay there if you are reading this!
