Hunting with Michael was a unique and entertaining experience. He worked tirelessly to find me a good buck in the height of the drought, and I was able to cash in on day 4. His subguides work just as hard, and produced record-class kills during my visit. You may find other guides in the area, but your odds won't be as good without Mountain Man Outfitters.

My husband and I were super excited about this Elk hunt. A week before our hunt we had a crytpic email that Mike would not be available and he would send one of his guys to meetup with us. When we purchased the guide service we were told that he has multiple guides that would accompany and scout and also access to horses if needed to go deeper into the wilderness. We ended up road hunting for a week and saw a total of 2 elk. Our guide was super nice, but when spending upwards of $7000 for an elk hunt and we supplied our own amenities, and the guide left us in camp one day because he had to go into Elko to "run errands and get gas". Not happy with the service of Michael Jurad and Mountain Man Outfitters. We know that hunts are not guaranteed, but to pay this much money and road hunt was ridiculous. We were expecting superior guides, not one guide...and one of the main reasons we paid for the service was for the packing out of the animal if harvested. My husband was going to have to pull this animal out also, which for him having back issues would not have been good! Super disapointed and super frustrating that Michael Jurad will not refund a partial amount back as he TOTALLY MISREPRESENTED what we paid for. We understand that there was pre-scouting and know that was a service we paid for...BUT the actual hunt? or lack of hunt? Oh...and I was the one who found the 2 elk that we saw...not the guide...
