Excellent appetizers. Wonderful back patio seating. Nice staff. I had a wonderful cocktail called a Paloma. That was a great deal and tasted excellent.nI also had mussels, oysters and Brussel sprouts appetizers.nMussels I think were excellent, great tasting bread with it. Sprouts were excellent also. Adding some provided balsamic added flavor IMO, also add the pork belly option. Very tasty. Oysters..... tasty but small and 14 bucks for 6 at happy hour. Not a real good deal in my opinion, given the size.nI'd definitely come back again. Will try more on the menu. The dinner menu looked great.

We toiled and toiled over where to eat. While I am sure there are many other good restaurants in the Bellingham area, this was one that had two items that peaked my interest. Oysters...pan fried and a Canadian favorite, poutine.nnMy wife is not a huge oyster fan (Midwesterner!!) but growing up on the sound I AM. She had never tried poutine so she still needed to order something. She got the burger and loved it. Juicy and a rare treat these days...cooked to order.nnThe poutine was fantastic. I think poutine is like pizza. Everyone does it a bit different so taste may vary, but I loved it. The cheese was gooey and the gravy rich. A meal in itself.nnThen came the oysters. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh, oysters cooked perfectly with a very crusted corn meal based coating.nnTry Rock and Rye. You won’t be disappointed.

My wife and I split the fish n chips. Cooked to perfection, great adult beverages, great service and great seating on the back deck with awesome weather. One of my favorite places to go through out the year.

This was our second time visiting rock and rye, and unfortunately, we were disappointed. We popped in for happy hour and were delighted by the first Paloma that we ordered. We decided to order some snacks... The brussels were delicious, the mussels were sub par. The service was not good... at all. When we ordered another round of palomas the drinks came to us beyond sweet, our mouths were sticky!!! After waiting for our server to come back for about 10-15 mins and never did, we eventually flagged down the bar tender and told him the drinks were way too sweet. After a snarky look back we asked for soda water to water down our drinks. He delivered in a very unfriendly manner. After pouring a glass of soda water into the cocktail, it still was bad!!!!! After another 15 mins of waiting around we asked our server for a check and told her how bad our drinks were. She then told us that it didn't make sense because the drinks are made with kits (cocktail at a kits at a bar, what?!!). Clearly, we were lied to one way or another as the first drink was great and the second was terrible. After all of this, we didn't even drink our cocktails and simply left in disappointment as none of the servers or bartenders tried to make their wrong a right. We will not be going back.
