High quality work and worth the wait. I had an excellent experience here. Note my profile picture is not their work.nI had work done by Shye. She is highly focused on quality and meticulous in attention to detail. It is a privilege to be able to carry her work for the rest of my life. Anyone who complains about waiting is not worthy. You cannot rush perfection and that is their goal. It is exactly as it should be.nOn several occasions I heard owner Michael talk to potential customers about his ideas and concerns. Dude waxes poetic about hairs on a scorpion. His standards are very high and he's not budging. If you think about it he's doing it right.nI would go here without a second thought if I could get in. But after 9 months of work completed even I get the all booked up message. I am happy they are busy and they deserve the success because they are as high quality as you can get.nPicture is of work in progress although it is done now. Healing shown.

I’ve been going to Black Tortoise monthly for well over a year now and have had a great experience every time.nnThe Staff - Genuine and professional. They’re all extremely down to earth and very knowledgeable about their craft.nnThe Shop - Clean, well-decorated, and most importantly, comfortable. They’ve got TVs in the rooms and allow you to pick a movie and relax while they work (you’ll probably even find yourself having great conversation and forget about the movie).nnThe Art - Everything done there is original. These artists put a lot of thought into each of their pieces. They perfect each piece and would refuse to do work if it can’t be done properly. This shop is truly about quality.nnThe Price - I did a ton of shopping around before ending up at BT; we all want to get the most for our money, right? Well, what I’ve found is that the price for work done here falls right in line with most shops in the area. The price is average, but the work is phenomenal. Well worth the money. The price I’ve paid the whole time I’ve gone there is $150hr (but, it doesn’t hurt to call and ask them what their rate is at the time that you’re reading this) .nnI believe the saying is “You get what you pay for.” Well, after having an entire sleeve done (beautifully I might add), I can honesty say that I got so much more than I paid for. Not only did I get what I consider to be the best sleeve I’ve ever seen, but I had a great experience while it was being done.nnIf what I wrote still hasn’t convinced you of how pleased I am with the work done at Black Tortoise, the sheer length of this review should speak for itself.

Huge waste of time and clearly aren't open to new clients!nScheduled a consultation because I liked that they did custom pieces. Talk to the artist, came up with a rough sketch and was told it would take 1-2 months. Which was totally fine by me. I asked if I could put a deposit down and they said that the deposit can be put when we come in to look over the artwork and make final edits. A month goes by and no update. Two months pass by and I decided to call. The artist wasn't there but the person on the phone said they would leave a message. A few weeks go by and I didn't get a call back so I decided to call, apparently she was busy and couldn't come to the phone. The guy on the phone says that it has been busy so call back later.nI'm still trying to be understanding at this point. I give them another week, nothing. I go up there and she is not there but they will check back with her. I go home and call, they tell me she is busy when not even 10min ago they said she was not there. I'm over it at this point, I ask if I could at least see what she has so far. Turns out she has nothing, and at this point it's been 4months. Clearly she and the establishment don't need any new business because I tried putting a deposit at the consultation. They could have just said she is very popular, would you be okay with working with one of our other artists instead of giving me the run around. I don't mind waiting just be upfront, taking my business elsewhere.

Seemed like it would be a great place to get my tattoo went in talked to an artist got a quick 2 min sketch. then we talked about when the actual would be done, she says it will be about a month turn around and she'll call when its ready. 2 months later i call her to see how it is going she said she completely forgot and to give her another month and they'd call i didn't hear another word from them since dont recommend it unless you want to regret wasting your time.
