West Penn Hospital: Emergency Room

I wish I could sue this hospital for abuse. My delivery room doctor was absolutely awful. My nurse and friend had to physically stand in her way while the doctor belittled and threatened to perform invasive procedures. When I was actually delivering the doctor refused to get me anything to push my feet against telling me to hold my own legs. It’s been over a year and I can barely walk due to the damage of displacing my hip and disk, causing permanent damage and chronic pain.

Loved everything about the place the only downfall was the Seasons OBGYN. They seemed on edge or something. It was always the nurses. Only complaint tho.

Went to the ER yesterday as a high risk pregnancy with a very bad respiratory virus. The baby was the LAST thing they checked after being in a room for two hours! The nurse came in with the Doppler and said she didn’t know how to use it and asked me where to find the baby’s heartbeat!nMy room had a bathroom and the toilets didn’t work and it was clogged from the person before us... yet the nurse said she just sanitized the room. The room also didn’t have any medical products needed and the doctor had to continually leave to go find them!nPaid tons of money in my co-pay and about to see more from the chest X-ray and strep test. The doctor didn’t look in my nose or sinuses once and only looked in my ears and heard my heartbeat. She ended up telling me I needed to go back to my PCP to see if they’d up my medication! I thought the point of going to the ER was to get help, not pay them do to nothing. I’m very discouraged as I plan to have my baby at this hospital and am high risk. I went to this ER God forbid something need tended to the pregnancy and I’d already be there. They were not trustworthy in the ER.nI was then told I would be discharged and waited for an hour. A different person came in and asked what we were doing then said he would get the discharge papers for us. Eventually no one came and we decided to find the check out desk. When we left the room all of the nurses were lounging in their desks casually laughing and talking to one another - not working or busy at all!nI want to file a complaint but do not know how! I do not think I should have to pay for that lack of service.

I went to this emergency room for the first time for a suconjunctival hemorrhage due to blood-thinning medication (pretty scary---looks like you have been shot in the eye). The facility is spacious, new, and clean. The wait time was very low (early Friday afternoon). The staff and physician were all sensible, efficient, careful, and very polite.

Best ER experience I have had. Quickly got me in and everyone we came in contact with was very kind. Very clean as well.
