UPMC St. Margaret

I had carpal tunnel surgery on the 25th of November by Dr. Chou. Courtney my nurse was excellent and Carrie from registration is great. The greeter i think her name is Mary she had so much energy for someone at 445am. This staff is excellent at what they do keep up the great work.

Poor experience. Arrived in ER with family member in pain. Person could walk behind knee pain, calf, and thigh. Unable to bear weight with numbness and tingling. Nurse has person whom is unable to walk - stands and watches struggling to enter triage room. Doesn’t even ask a pain scale. Person Takes BP and temp and asks 4 questions from computer. Uncaring tells the person to go back to waiting room and take a seat. Watches person struggle to ambulated. Person sits there for 1.5 hours in waiting room. No one offers a wheelchair nor ice to put on leg. No pain med given because does access pain. Then triage nurse ask to hobble over to another room in a hallway. Doesn’t even give the pt a gown. No basic treatment - no ice - no pain assessment - not seen by anytime of a provider and we have been here 1.45 hours. Can not believe the ER doesn’t have a wheelchair. Wonder if we should been seen at AHN vs UPMC.nFinally made it to a ER room approximately 3 hours and 15 min later. Sat in hall room . Although I am sure they will charge my insurance for the ER room rate not the hallway rate. Finally got a call bell after being here for over 3.5 hours.nAsked nurse to use restroom in private hallway. Informed me - prefers pt to use bathroom in waiting room. No way will walk in patient gown to the waiting room.nThe positive is the MRI was good in explaining process.
