Was admitted in July and again in August. Both times I was treated with dignity, respect and compassion. All the staff were highly professional and I felt extremely comfortable with the level and type of care I received. The doctors were generous with their time, especially when reviewing my procedures as well as answering all of my questions. But the nurses deserve my highest praise and thanks for their continuous attention, encouragement and dedication. I’m not sure if I will have to return once more, but I know I will be in very good, kind and capable hands.

AMAZING ER DOCTORS AND NURSES!!! This is the hospital that figured out that my mom has kidney and heart failure after MONTHS (since November) of trying to figure out why her leg was swelling! We went to countless of specialists, other hospitals, and many many doctors before we came to the ER at porters, literally after two hours of them running tests and taking her seriously we found out her diabetes is what is causing her organs to shut down. We found out in early March. Since then they set us up with their transplant team and Coordinators (shout out to Mary the transplant coordinator nurse) all who are ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Thank you financial member Margret for talking and calming my mom down, THANK you dietitian Margret for helping her build a better game plan to better her life, THANK YOU Dr.Lim for explaining the dialysis process and making it a calming fun experience, THANK YOU Jennifer the social worker for expressing everything is going to be okay, Thank you Dr.Weisman for reassuring us. Thank you Dawn the front desk member in that office for making it a smooth process. If you want AMAZING QUALITY CARE GO TO PORTERS!!!!!! My mom is now starting dialysis and I've never seen her happier on her road to recovery. Excellent staff members! Thank you for saving my mom!

My son was seen in the ER twice in the span of a week. His first visit was in the middle of the night, so they were not very busy. We had a very nice nurse, and other staff were very kind. The doctor was also nice, but cannot recall his name. However, our second visit was a different experience, hence the 3 star review. They were obviously very busy with several ambulance arrivals and screaming patients. My son began to have horrific projectile vomiting. I had to flag down his nurse, who just said that he would “tell the doctor” and walked away. Meanwhile, my son was covered in vomit. Luckily, we had brought a plastic dishpan, as the vomit bag provided would have been useless. I flagged down an employee in the hallway and asked for a plastic bag for the vomit covered clothing, a hospital gown for my son, and a clean sheet for his bed. I cleaned up the vomit, changed his sheet and helped him into his gown. As a retired med-surg nurse and nurse practitioner, I was very disappointed in the care that he received that night. I would have never treated a patient that way- total neglect. Dr. Bosch was excellent, and despite being extremely busy, treated us very kindly and professionally. Luckily, I was there to care for and advocate for my son. I realize that they were busy, and in the middle of a pandemic, but it only takes a minute to hand someone a dry gown and bed sheet.

Horrific experience at this hospital recently. Staff overworked, room looked like a dumpster by day 2 of my stay and never got picked up, when an unexpected post surgery condition occurred in myself medically, they did not have a specialist to deal with it nor could they seem to read the x-rays in a timely manner. I checked out on day 4 to receive private help.Overall I would not send my dog to this hospital!!!! The only thing kind I can say is that the nurses were sweet albeit quite inexperienced overall..

When I went to the ER at Porter Adventist Hospital last night, I was met with nothing short of neglect, if not contempt. My girlfriend dropped me off and I walked in alone so that she would not be exposed to COVID. I had extreme chills so I was wearing a full sweatsuit with a snowboarding jacket over the top. I say this because I have to assume the woman at the desk thought I was homeless due to my layers of clothing. I cannot fathom any other reason she would have treated me the way she did (of course she should not have treated me that way even if I was homeless!).nnI went through security and the guard told me to take a seat at one of two check-in windows, he pointed to the window on the right, which appropriately had a sign directing patients with chest pain to sit there, and I had chest pain. After waiting ten minutes slumped over in a chair (not even the guard called a nurse) a nurse happened to walk into the office. She proceeded directly passed my window without saying anything and sat at the other window, which was on the other side of a partition wall. Without greeting me or asking me to move, she proceeded to ask me about my symptoms. I started to tell her and she abruptly stopped me, stating that there was no way she could hear me through the partition wall. I told her I was asked to sit there and ask if I should move. She rudely told me to move. I then told her I was shocked at the aggressive approach to communicating with a sick patient at which point she threatened to kick me out. Mind you I was barely able to walk due to the aches and chills and chest pain I was experiencing.nnKnowing that I would likely be treated with neglect based on this encounter, I got up a went to Swedish where they promptly and professionally provided me with care.nnI’m telling this story because it is dangerous to staff a hospital with nurses who have clearly lost a desire to do the job. That’s how patients end up getting hurt. I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals because my girlfriend was in a coma in 2016. We spent months at St. Anthony’s, Kindred, and Colorado Acute LTC. I met a lot of great nurses, and I met a handful who had stayed past burnout. The lady I met last night is long overdue for a career change because there is no reason to pick a fight with a patient who is sick. I would never recommend Porter to someone I care about.
