I didn't go here but someone I know who I was helping with their finances was going there for a Home Equity loan and they treated them very poorly. They required extensive documents for someone who has been in the same line of work/business owner for over 30 years and wanted to charge for an appraisal when they have over $300k equity in their house. They ended up declining the loan after sitting on it for over a week and didn't offer them another option (i.e; less equity, direct pay, closure of cards), and ultimately didn't help them at all.nnThe person I was helping went to Peoples Bank a few days later, got approved for the requested amount in a day (without any funny business with income documents and fees for a valuation).nnWashington Federal clearly doesn't like money.

Rude and deceptive. The ATM took my card since I didn't take it out quick enough - it was after 5pm. Called the next day, they checked the machine, called me back 40 minutes later, and said it was there. But that they would need to destroy because it was from a different bank. She repeatedly changed her story, saying that it was going to be destroyed, that the machine ate it already, and that they had it but would need to destroy it. Lori lied blatantly. I have no other cards or way of getting cash, and I cannot express disrespect I felt from Lori's rude and cold tone. They won't treat you like a person, and don't use their ATM.

My family has banked with Washington Federal for many years. Until I retired, my husband did all the face-to-face interactions and always found the employees helpful and friendly. Since retiring 3 years ago, I have been at the bank helping my elderly mother fairly regularly. Lori, who handles CDs, IRAs and I am assuming new accounts, has always been very professional, helpful and friendly. It's true if she's working with another customer, you will have to wait, but I think that would happen at most banks. The tellers are always friendly. If they can't answer a question, they get clarification. I have rarely had to wait long for service. I am not related to nor personal friends with any of the bank employees.

Shredded my ATM card from another bank. Supposedly because they had “ no way if the use was fraudulent”. Well the transaction was approved, you charged me your ATM fee and you return such cards to your own customers. You should afford me the same courtesy instead of being slavishly subservient to an idiotic practice.
