Western State Hospital

If I could rate this place zero stars I would, I ended up being a patient at this facility due to mental illness and I was told horror stories about violent Patients, they mix criminals With mentally disabled patients, which I feel as though should be separate , I was put on a one to one for no reason and was watched 24 hours I couldn’t shower or use the bathroom without a staff in the room, I couldn’t go to the kitchen like everyone else, the food was cold every time and unappealing, I got assaulted Everyday by a girl in the day area ( which staff watch the patients from) everyday for no reason literally Had to defend myself from this patient everyday and all the staff would do is watch then after 5 minutes or more of the fight they finally separate Me and the patient and have to call a code green to strap her from hurting me further, they said I could press charges against the patient and a made a report, but nothing happen to the patient, none of the staff brothers to talk to you and you meet the treatment team once in a blue moon. I hated this Facility And rather kill myself then to ever End as a patient again

I learned some time ago that one of our hard headed troublemakers is confined out here. What could be better than having him out here, fed sheltered and medicated away from us.??

I was not what I expected.. hard to find where to go but everyone you ask everyone is very nice and helpful and they make sure you get where you are going.. The geese are a kick. The family visiting rooms were comfortable and you can bring in outside food so that was nice to share a meal with my family member. The staff are wonderful and I appreciated their care and attention to my loved one.

Western did a miraculous job working with my schizophrenic 34-year old son. It took 3 1/2 years, but each month, I could see progress. They were careful and meticulous in his care. They were cautious in transitioning him back into our community. Their commitment to their patients is exemplary. I cannot say enough good things about Western State Hospital, in general, and S-7, in particular. You guys are awesome. You gave my son a chance at life for the first time in 15 years!!
