First of all I would like to share that I have been a resident of Contra Costa County 52 years out of 53 years of life. I believe that politics and the management of institutions financial structure has more to do with the good and the bad we all our experiences we have everywhere and especially here at what is considered the county hospital. My personal experience and now even with my husband being here after spending his last 2 hospital stays at John Muir I would say from my experience base is they as doctors and nurses are doing the best they as individuals can do. Mind you if anyone has any knowledge of real life here must know that we are all a number first in a statistic as individuals and people on a whole. Sad but true. As farvas doctors I have seen the worst here at Contra Costa Regional.and as far as the best in their field I know the best have been here at Contra Costa Regional. The bottom line this is considered more of a HMO facility like Kaiser where I personally avoid for Kaiser has not updates their medical practices for decades and that is why I consider social medicine is not good medicine I also take into count why a doctors choose to stay with Kaiser or even with Contra Costa Regional but the bottom line we as individuals need to advocate for ourselves and of course our live ones who cannot advocate for themselves. If you a one to rely on the emergency room as your primary form for medical treatment then yes you deserve the lack of treatment you feel you are getting because those whom are established with a PCP with this network you will not have to wait long and has anyone tried to call and talk with a advice nurse before visiting the emergency room? If you do not serve as an activist for yourself and your love ones' health then be prepared to be a priority in an emergency room or in the doctor's clinic/office waiting room of any medical institution. Now speaking for Contra Costa Regional if you take the business structure out of it these nurses and physicians are for the most part EXCELLENT. No one is perfect and to understand people you have to understand yourself first. I understand that not all doctors are best suited for us patients so mind you have the right to choose another one that is but if you use the emergency room as your PCP then you have to take what you get and keep in mind you will never be a priority for you dont care enough about yourself to go and get regular check up and learn about the heritary and or environmental conditions you may or may not have then what makes you think you should be priority over those of us that do? Thank you to the Physicians and Nurses and all of those at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and the Physical Therapy Depatment there on campus in Martinez for your dedication you serve to us in this county.nStacy Lawrence

My wife had an appointment for swelling and pain in hers ears tragus. Saw Blackmon, a nurse practitioner. Told my wife there was no swelling and that it’s from grinding her teeth too much, without even looking at her teeth. My wife doesn’t grind her teeth, at all. About an hour later had to take her to the ER at John Muir and they are now admitting her for a bad infection. If they assign Blackmon to you, demand someone else IMMEDIATELY!!

1.Always communicate with email with your doctor.keep copy of all records.n2.Always go with a family member as witness.n3.When in doubt, demand for second opinion outside of hospital.n4 If all fails find a good malpractice attorney.nBelow federal standard care system under patient rights act. They do their best to avoid all necessary testing, labs,MRI,Citiscan, etc, because this cause further complication which cost them more money.public records shows lots of lawsuits and patient record manupilation.

Worst place to go to for ER services. They really need to upgrade the facility. LOng waits and cramped spaces
