Dr. Kurtis Auguste is not a 5 star neurosurgeon and everybody needs to know about the conduct our family has been through even today. Dr. Auguste did a very complicated procedure on my 5 month old son after his seizures were returning and he gave a big presentation on the procedure and adamantly told us he had no other options and an immediate left hemispherectomy was needed and was very low risk. We trusted Dr. Auguste even telling my wife and I he is our guardian angel. During surgery Auguste hit my four month old son’s pituitary gland and left my son with 2 additional 24 hour lifelong medical conditions being Central Diabetes Insipidus(salt diabetes) and an ADH hormone production deficiency, and Ride side hemiparesis or left our son without movement on his ride half of the body. However reading this understand that that is not why I post a bad review it was what happened next where Dr. Auguste denied any fault and left on a “2 week vacation” unable to answer our questions. We already had our youngest battle 100+ seizures a day for 5 months and prepare for brain surgery. We came under the attacks of UCSF staff badly, let me say they will not let negative info get out on a Dr, and my wife were forced to stay 37 additional days in the NICU post op because a diuretic was needed to produce the ADH hormone and my son could adapt to oral medication and IV was given for 37 days. In those days unbelievable conduct was rampant at one point having security tell my wife could not pray in the chapel literally saying Dr. Auguste is very mad and you shouldn’t have made him mad. And most importantly when we finally were discharged safely and get home to start his recovery. Dr. Auguste began telling social workers that our son was neglected and not taking medication after we switched care to Vally Medical in our hometown. We had 4 CPS workers come on 4 different times who were shocked at the claims and found obviously a safe healthy baby and unfounded results. The fourth CPS worker however came and took our son! She made up medical allegations and listed Dr. Auguste as the RP. And after months he is still not home and I know CPS is bad and we are currently suing federally and will get justice but this man hurt our child and instead of explaining how to best deal with the 2 complications he used his credentials to say we were bad parents. He had told me I was the best father he had ever seen until he messed up and please every potential parent understand that this man did things to avoid liability that have my son mistreated and now really medically neglected by CPS so bad a very high profile lawyer contacted us to get justice for our son. Beware of Dr. Auguste he is without question one of best neurosurgeons in the country but if he makes a mistake believe he will do unthinkable things to not let it affect his reputation. I was able to get the actual records by FOIA and he had changed the records so a medical review board call will be next. Hope nobody ever has to go through what we have. Any doubts can email me and see documents.

Dr. Auguste is an amazing doctor. He performed brain surgury on my son Ryland on June 18, 2019. Dr. Auguste removed a small area in Rylands brain that didn't form correctly and was causing seizures. Ryland is home now and recovering well after only 3 days.nnThank you Dr. Auguste.nnOne year update, Ryland is now seizure free and medicine free. Dr. Auguste changed my sons life.
