I like the ambiance; a lot of wood, low lighting, a couple nooks to cozy up in. Drinks are reasonably priced. Easy place to meet people.
Pandemic hit this one hard. No staff on duty most of the time. Front door always locked it seemed. After hours (5 pm) access was around the back, up 108 step stairway, down the street, down a driveway, down 2 flights of stairs and into a combo-locked back door. No elevator. Bar area next door (regular after hours access) closed per pandemic restrictions. Rooms are clean, but small. Some have bathrooms, some are down the hall. Friendly staff. Probably would be a fun place without COVID restrictions. Also a residential stay facility. Interesting decor.
Slept well. Didnt see any ghost, sadly.
The Alaskan hotel is lovely, a lovely setting. truely from the mining days, it's well taken care of I enjoy it
Saw you guys on hotel impossible. After you chose to go and cater to tourists and not the locals who made the bar and hotel what it is over 100 years. You totally ruined any chance I'd stay when I visit Alaska. I live in a tourist state and any business that caters to tourists looses almost all local love. No point staying in a hotel for its historic value when they dont value their history.
