I have been been a patient at this practice since I was a young child. My family and I have always loved the providers but have dreaded any time we know we'll have to deal with the office staff. My entire issue with this practice is the office staff. They constantly seem to be unorganized and more interested in their own personal conversations than actually helping the practice run efficiently. They are rude 90% of the time, although I can say that my experiences with Kathy are the exception. Most of the time it feels whether in person or via phone, that you are interrupting them and bothering them. Unless you are lucky enough to speak to a nurse or doctor you are treated less like a patient and more like a problem. Should you need paperwork completed for various reasons, it may be normal to bring it to the office's attention, but here you're best bet is to bring it directly to your doctor or nurse. Otherwise, prepare to call and check in periodically until it's done.nnI more than understand what this kind of job in the healthcare field entails, and I am also aware that a strong office is the backbone to a practice. I do not understand why when this has been going on for years and noticed by many that changes have not been made.nnAlso, I understand the problems that COVID has created and the myriad of information that needs to be provided. However, when someone is so sick, listening to the never ending automated message before options are even provided is absolutely exhausting and frustrating.nnLOVE the doctors and nurses, constantly unimpressed by the office. Hoping something changes soon or I may need to seek out other care.

So after being a patient of Family Practice Associates for 20+ years, I called yesterday to set up an appointment. I had not been there in a number of years( 2014 was my last visit) as there was no need for me to see a doctor. I was told that I am now considered a new patient and the receptionist would ask Dr. MICHAELS if they would be willing to take me on a s a new patient. I received a call back about 2 hours later and was informed that they were very sorry, but I was no longer going to be one of their patients. My wife, son and daughter are also patients there- I was informed that my son is still a patient as he was seen last summer, but my wife and daughter are no longer patients there. I own and operate an HVAC service company here in Syracuse, I understand that downsizing happens- but to deny care when needed seems a bit cold. A letter describing the fact that they were downsizing a couple of years ago would have maybe given me a chance to align my family with a new care provider. Thank you for leaving me in the lurch Family Practice Associates.

As others have mentioned, the receptionists are lousy and incredibly rude.nnYou will always have issues getting prescriptions filled. You can’t even talk to a human-being about your prescriptions as they have an automated system that goes straight to a voicemail box. They won’t call you back, so you just got to hope they fill them (50/50 shot on that).nnDo yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Unfortunate, because the doctor I’m seeing here is actually quite competent and friendly, but it’s not worth having to go through all the other pain points.

Have only ever had wonderful encounters with the doctors and nurses here. They have always gone out of their way to answer questions and make real time to see patients. This poor review is in relation to the calling service only.nnThe on call answering service was absolutely horrendous. Whoever the woman was that answered my phone call was beyond rude. I wasn’t even able to finish my reason for calling before she interrupted me. She proceeded to talk over me and raise her voice. I finished explaining what my doctor had instructed me to do (which was what I was calling in regards to). She began to AGAIN interrupt me when I said told her she was being rude. While yelling at me she said I had an attitude and hung up on me. This phone call was completely unprofessional and inappropriate.nnI work in healthcare myself and this behavior is absolutely unacceptable. It’s really disappointing that a place in which you are calling for help and instruction is involves someone so disrespectful and degrading. I plan to follow up with my provider and other management in response to this poor behavior.

Receptionist are astonishingly rude. I have worked in healthcare for 10 years and recently moved to NY. I was recommended a PA from this practice from a coworker I respect to establish care. Because of the satisfaction my coworker has for the providers at this practice I did not feel the need to seek out their reviews. Big mistake. Had I read the reviews 1st I would not have even wanted this to be my practice. Everything said below is correct. The receptionist are condescending and arrogant to say the least. The attitude they project is bad for the practice and I am honestly blown away from a business standpoint that the practice allows them to continue in their unprofessional behavior.nnI know 1st hand that I would not want this to be my practice, and as I mentioned before, had I read the reviews 1st I would have never even picked up the phone.
