This was a last minute decision to dine in for Chicago’s Restaurant week. What a great decision! We made reservations, seated immediately after we arrived. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered the specials for restaurant week. I had salmon with sautéed spinach as well as desert. We also enjoyed the gumbo soup and calamari (superb) ! The drinks could be a little bit better. Overall definitely a great way to spend your Saturday afternoon.
I made a reservation for tonight. My husband and I are celebrating our 21st Anniversary. I called Friday night and gave my information for the reservation. I could hear they were balls-out busy when I called and was surprised they even answered the phone and took a reservation. We walked in today, and they had no record of my call. They looked panicked, I was panicked because this is a special night for more than one reason; that's why I had made a reservation.nThe staff handled this with all kinds of grace. Space was made for us to have a table at the bar while we waited at a time when table space was at a premium.nI should mention, my husband and I met while working at a high end restaurant. We witnessed the amazing dynamic skill that makes a restaurant work smoothly and recognized it as such. We were seated and enjoyed an amazing meal. We both appreciate the professionalism and class of this establishment. Thank you for your hard work folks. It is most appreciated.
I'm going to break down my review into sections because I believe it is unfair to rate this as not great for everything. We went to restaurant to celebrate a birthday there were 5 of us.n1( restaurant appearance) As an upscale establishment there were over lights that were flickering and cause of that it made you look up which in turn you then noticed water damaged ceiling tiles but that wasn't a terrible thing just a side note.n2 ( service) Like I said we were there for a birthday and the place wasn't busy let's also say that we were served wrong drinks and then served same wrong drinks again don't know why other than at first we really didn't know who our waiter was. We then had a decent time between getting our appetizers and our waiter taking our order. Only plus was our waiter was genuinely funny and decent guy.n3 ( food) Everyone food was delicious and we all had different meals from steak to king crab legs. The dessert we ordered was also great and they gave our birthday guest a free dessert. The only downside was with king crab legs for being an upscale place you really shouldn't have to break open your own crab legs but on positive asked our waiter to have them cut them open and he gracefully to back to kitchen which obliged in opening them.nSo would love to give 5 stars based on quality of food but cause of minor issues have to give this instance there 4 stars
Our night didn't start out well. We sat at our table for 10 minutes without service and only after going to the hostess to complain we finally got taken care of. The food is always good but as we've seen with many places, because they had a party in another room service in the dining room suffers. We'll still be back but I'll be sure to request a table in the room furthest from the party room.
Let me start by saying that I have loved and recommended this restaurant for years. It pains me to write this review. Tonight’s meal was completely unexpected. First, I ordered a Manhattan at the bar that tasted nothing like a Manhattan. It tasted like whiskey on the rocks. Luckily, I’m a fan of whiskey. When we were finally seated, 30 minutes after our reservation time, I ordered the 20 oz prime porterhouse. It was “choice” at best. Less than 1/2 and inch thick and tough as nails. I refuse to complain at the restaurant because I have too much respect for how hard the staff works, especially after such a tough year. I don’t want to have the awkward conversation about how bad the food was with some poor girl who is simply happy to still be employed. I was excited to be out and truly expected to enjoy my dinner. I tried everyones steak to see if maybe mine was the exception. Unfortunately, they were all bad. From my daughters strip to my wife and sons filets. I could have cooked them better at home. Our bill was 274.00. I paid it and tipped without a complaint. But, I most likely won’t eat there again. It’s a shame. I used to love that restaurant.
