On Monday, September 28th, I rushed my daughter to the ER after falling 8 ft. The wait was our only complaint.nOnce we were seen, her treatment was impeccable. Every nurse did all they could to make her comfortable. The X-ray staff took many X-rays, but made sure she was as comfortable as possible.nThe PA was extremely thorough in his evaluation physically, mentally, and emotionally. He calmed her anxiety and explained everything.nAn educational nurse came to speak to her before the orthopedics set her wrist.nThe team of orthopedics that set her wrist were exceptional. They worked with her to make a very painful experience as bearable as possible. When the numbing medicine wore off, and she didn’t want another needle, they said it’s only a little more.nThe educational nurse stood with me in the hallway as they took X-rays throughout the procedure. My daughter cried out in excruciating pain towards the end. As tears were welling in my eyes, the educational nurse put her arm around me.nThe compassion shown at a time when they are so busy overwhelmed me.nThank you all so very much!

Disappointed in my experience here. I've been here before and am aware there can be fairly long wait times to be seen but today was awful. I waited all day and evening to be seen and never did. Most of the staff, not all, were incredibly rude and dismissive to not only me but fellow patients as well. Found a bloody mask in the restroom sink and the lady at the front desk seemed agitated I even brought it up to her. Over 9 hours later I left and was seen, treated, and released in under an hour and a half at Lewis Gale and treated with 10X more kindness in a very clean and efficient space. While this isn't indicative of the entire hospital, the ER at Memorial is too overran for them to keep up and their lack of bedside manor today is why I will be choosing another ER from now on if needed. You come to the ER to be treated with kindness and care in a time of medical need, not treated with indifference and dismissal after waiting patiently and politely for care that never came.

Not doing much of anything to protect against spread of covid-19. They ask a few questions and take a temperature on the way in. After that you are put in the waiting room like cattle as usual. If you try to avoid that and sit outside, they will get rude with you to find out if you asked permission to be away from the germ fest inside. On top of that you will still be here for hours and hours waiting to see a doctor even with chest pain and numbness. Those are symptoms that should have you back pretty quick. Edit: also because I stood up for myself and went outside, they decided to skip me and say they couldn't find me. Purely malicious. Didn't care if I died as long as they could make their ego feel better.
