El Jacal Mexican Grill

Our family loved this. We went on an adventure to Fort Morgan and this was the only place to sit down in town. The food was great and there was a TON of it. The ladies running the place were great to our kids and made it a memorable experience. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Great place to eat.

First issue, the waitress asked us if we wanted chips and salsa.. so of course we said yes. Assuming, like almost every other Mexican restaurant on the planet, they offered free chips and salsa. Nope. they charge $2.50 for chips and salsa, which was never told to us until the bill was brought. Not a huge issue, but definitely an annoyance and the loss of one star.nnNext up the chips themselves were bad. they were extra thick, which some people do like, but I could barely chew them. They also tasted slightly stale. if you're going to charge $2.50 for one small basket of chips and a cup of salsa.. they better be great chips. These were not, I get better chips in the store for far less.nnAfter that, service was slow in general. There was a table behind me that had been there before we got there, and we're still waiting on one person's food when we left. We experienced slow service, not quite as bad as them... But everything took quite a while. That's another star lost..nnAnd the nail in the coffin, they got my food order wrong. I ordered a chicken fajita burrito, smothered in queso. They brought out a steak fajita burrito. The steak I tried chewing two of the pieces it was crunchy, and not flavorful. I'm not a fan of steak fajita meat in general, but this was just terrible. I couldn't even be sure if it was steak, or burned chicken, or something else. I had to have someone else try a piece to confirm it was indeed the wrong meat. I almost deducted two stars for this, but I only deducted one.nnon the plus side, despite being slow the staff were all super friendly, and it seemed like they were trying. But they just weren't able to keep up with their work, and the food quality did not live up to even an average Mexican restaurant.

I love this place, 80% of everything on the menu is authenticity fitting, but I was very let down by the Mexican Hotdogs, my expectations may have been high, but literally a Hot Dog. Disappointing. But not gonna stop me from eating here! Too much to love!

Been in a few times. I love mexican. I like to try the menu each time so I get a different dish. All has been good so far
