It was a perfect night for a meal at Driftwood. Upon arrival, we chose from a nice selection of socially-distanced outdoor tables. A great view of Lake Erie was available from all outdoor seating.nnWe started with a drink while looking over the small, yet varied choices on the menu. A great variety of options on the drink menu, my wife chose a martini which she said was excellent.nnAs an appetizer, we selected an order of the honey-mustard chicken wings (bone-in). They were the meatiest and juiciest wings I've had in a long time. The honey-mustard sauce was an excellent mix of sweet, with just a hint of spicy mustard.nnFor the main course, we each chose one of their two chicken sandwiches. I had a very juicy and flavorful grilled chicken sandwich with the BBQ sauce. My wife chose the Caprese Sandwich which is just what you would expect. A chicken breast covered with a large slice of tomato topped with a generous disc of fresh mozzarella. We also chose a basket of the sweet potato fries as a side dish, Yum. A friend who was dining with us chose the Black Bean burger. It was the largest fresh-made burger I had ever seen (probably a half-pound). There were quite the leftovers taken home from this visit.nnThe service was smooth and we were not rushed at all. As we got toward the end of our stay, there was an awesomely picturesque sunset to top off our visit.
Everything from the veiw to our waitress was phenomenal. The calamari was on point, along with the Driftwood burger & sweet potato fries. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, thank you!
We visited this restaurant because our dog was welcome, per the Fido website. I called to double check that we could actually bring our dog and I was told yes and that I also needed a reservation, so I made one while I was on the phone. Upon arrival, at 4:30 PM, we were told we needed a mask (COVID 19) or we couldn't be seated. This would have been helpful information when I called for the reservation. We ran back to the car and got masks, to be seated outside by the lake. It was beautiful scenery but we were never greeted by a server, until we flagged one down. Apparently there was some mix up with the servers. We finally got our drinks and food and it was delicious. While it ended well (we were fed), the restaurant seemed a little out of order and mismanaged. I would try it again though, if I was in town.
Very rude people at this establishment. I called ahead to make sure we could eat in and we were told to come, and the entire inside of the restaurant was open. The woman on the phone said outside usually requires reservation because it fills up quickly , but inside was completely available. Upon entering we noticed signs saying mask required **unless seated. Obviously we expected to be seated the duration of our meal. We also have eaten out several times in the past month and never required to wear a mask while eating at a restaurant. Immediately a woman behind the bar (whose mask was around her chin, uncovering her face) demanded we leave since we didn’t have our faces covered. We asked if we could eat outside or one of the many tables indoors which had no patrons in site. She told us this restaurant didn’t except walk ins, reservation only. When I explained we called just 20 mins ago and were told to come she became even more rude. She offered us a seat only if we purchased masks from her and wore them the duration of the meal. She also informed us we would be required to wear them even outside. Ridiculous. Mind you other outdoor patrons were unmasked. We left and went to Taco Bell, which was an upgrade.
Very strict mask protocol, yet owner was wearing mask around her CHIN, while working behind the bar serving patrons. This isn't the first instance of an employee with a mask below their nose and/or mouth demanding patrons wear masks while eating. Please don't tell me to come to your establishment with plenty of seating inside and then turn me away after I drove 20 minutes to get there. I find it very hard to eat food with a mask over my mouth. Common protocol in Ohio is that if you are seated at your table with distance between others, there is no reason for a mask. This business picks and chooses who they want to serve and how they will treat them.
