I went to archers institute in September 2018 as an adolescent. The experience was traumatic and the staff were inattentive and ignorant to patients’ needs.nBefore admission I was forced to remove all my clothing and was placed in a hospital gown. While this is normal in most areas, I had to take off undergarments as well and was not allowed to put them back on until my parents brought clothing the next day. I have never felt so embarrassed and exposed in my life. The situation was only made worse as I had to strip in front of an adult woman, one who I did not know at all.nThe staff treated us with unwarranted indignancy as well. They would gossip loudly during the night, which made it a struggle to sleep properly at all. They looked down upon us, as if the notion of being admitted to the institute somehow made us all atrocities. We were treated like prisoners- any small sort of misconduct would be threatened with sedation. While I was never threatened with sedation, I was threatened with the removal of my visitation hours since I often cried on the phone when talking to my parents. This felt cruel and spiteful- it is only natural to cry in traumatic times, especially when being separated from family. Some staff members were nice, yet they were usually the nurses who distributed medicine and the counselor who visited on rare occasions.nPerhaps worst of all was how the patients were unequally treated. A group of patients would tease a younger girl with a short temper, yet they never were reprimanded even though they were the catalysts of the event. The little girl on the other hand was sedated many times, despite no threats of physical violence or physical violence in general.nConclusively, DO NOT go to Archer’s institute if you are in search of help. As a former patient to this institution, I can verify that my experiences at this hospital were absolutely horrid. Although a year has passed, I felt driven to write this review when I heard my friend was going to an institution. Instantly, many once repressed memories flooded back to me and have opened my eyes to how much of a negative impact Archer institute had on my life at the time.

This is a great facility. Brand new. Extremely supervised and very professional staff. Everyone is happy to help and very sweet. Its difficult to find a facility setting with that southern hospitality but this place has it!

This is the worst facility I have ever encountered! The nursing staff are rude, the techs have behavioral issues and slam binders in front of kids that suffer from PTSD. They lie, and when calmly approached to discuss issues with my child they laughed in my face. They do not offer therapy sessions. If your child is depressed and in need of genuine assistance DO NOT send them to this facility until they reassess their staff!
