Forged Of Wood and Stone

I was looking for some raw edge walnut to finish a project. I reached out to Ty and was astounded at his level of knowledge and expertise. He was ready and willing to combine my ideas with his to make my project a reality. His workshop is extensive and impressive. Skip the big box stores for any woodworking project and go straight to Forged in Wood and Stone!

You may be able to find hardwood in the area, but you will be unable to find hardwood remotely close to the combination of quality, beauty, and price that Forged of Wood and Stone produces and sells. I saw a post on Facebook marketplace advertising dimensional walnut, and as a novice woodworker, I was eager to get my hands on some for a cutting board I had in mind. I was completely blown away from every aspect of my experience at Forged of Wood and Stone; I was blown away by the workshop, I was blown away by the kiln, I was blown away by the unbelievable boards and cuts of wood, but most importantly I was blown away by the owner, Ty Putnam. Despite Ty working on another customer’s project, he took the time (which amounted to hours) to show me around the facility and answer all the questions I had which ranged from harvesting trees to what finish to use. He let me take my time to search for the boards that best fit my project and my car, and when I made my selection, he showed me his pricing process which was beyond fair. Some of the boards I selected were rough sawn, which was something I was fine with given the beauty of the boards, but Ty insisted that the price listed is for S2S boards and proceeded to sand the boards to an exceptional finish. He helped me load the boards in my car and wished me well. I came with no expectations, but I left with some of the most beautiful boards I have ever seen, a wealth of new knowledge, and the name of a place I will be revisiting frequently as I continue to develop my woodworking skills.
