PeaceHealth Southwest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Worst experience ever. Although some of the staff was nice, most of them shamed my daughter and her husband. The twins were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis but rather than transfer the babies to the Children's Hospital where the CF Team is, this place wanted the feather in their caps and refused to transfer. They botched it and botched it big time! One nurse even opened a pill and shoved the balls of creon down the premature twins throat because they never did figure out how they were supposed to deliver it. My daughter cried all night after seeing her tiny baby gagging on the pills that actually burn the inside of the mouth like meat tenderizer. Then they called the Childrens hospital to ask how to deliver the medicine. They were told but never did figure it out. They kept the babies for 6 months for no reason what so ever and put my daughter and her husband through hell the entire time. Even the social worker was horrific and scolded my daughter multiple times. She didn't even offer to refer them to Ronald McDonald House. She only scolded them all the time and did not a single thing to help them. They ended up putting my daughter, her husband and myself in a room full of nurses and doctors and the social worker and they spent an hour brow beating us all. It was the worst most horrible experience ever. I will never recommend anyone ever going there. I must say the experience at the Children's hospital has been wonderful. The babies are thriving and the healthiest at clinic due to the diligent care their parents give them and the wonderful CF Team. If your baby has a diagnosis like CF do yourself and your baby a favor and insist on the transfer to the Children's Hospital in Portland!! Give them a rating of AWFUL!
