Life with the Lawrence’s (05/13/2020)
I went in at 23 weeks pregnant with a kidney stone. I was yelled at by nurses to “quit my hollering” after the pain medication failed and I was in immense pain. I was also never given my call button to be able to ask for help, was never given the results of my blood or urine samples, never offered water or ice chips, and after being yelled at, was never checked on by the staff to see if I was okay or if I needed anything. I was then transferred to the OB unit by the ER without a doctor agreeing to see me. So I sat in the OB ward alone and in pain for I don’t know how long. From the time I arrived to the time I signed myself out to go to summit was 7 hours. 7 hours I was left to suffer. Upon arriving to summit, they did an ultrasound immediately to confirm the stone, 5mm, as well as tests to show that I was VERY sick and close to sepsis due to an infection in my kidney. I ended up needing immediate surgery to place a stint in my kidney. Personally, will never return to Vanderbilt at Wilson County for any reason.
