Riverside Health System

This hospital is terrible. First, they are inbred and treat certain patients better than others. Secondly, their billing and 'financial assistance' does not cover car accidents which is completely wrong especially if the driver was not intoxicated, no other vehicles were involved, and it was entirely due to mechanical malfunction in my case of a dry rotted tire rod. What's more, they didn't even have the decency to tell me my financial assistance application was denied and send me a bill to give me a chance to make arrangements, they immediately forwarded it to a collection agency. Pretty grimey. .Even though my financial assistance application was submitted Oct 2018, this is the first I have heard of any bill from Riverside Regional Medical Center. I contacted them only to find out they do not provide financial assistance for automobile accidents. I was laid off of my job at IHOP corporation on 12.3.18 at the height of the holiday season after working 14 hours on Thanksgiving until midnite and returned at 8am on Friday. And the representatives at the billing phone number I called on Friday, 2/15/18 @ 1pm were so rude and heartless (An African-American woman and then a male when I called back) The second rep had no empathy for the fact that no financial assistance is provided for auto accidents. That is silly, especially when you live in a town like Williamsburg that is 80% seasonal jobs and the actual year-round full-time jobs the few that there are, you have to be grandfathered in and Riverside know you have no job and cannot find one, but there is no financial assistance for a single car malfunction (liability coverage due to no employment opportunities or job market at all) when you almost lost your life, to help in situations like this. I applied during a time I used to get SNAP. I request another facility next time. And the kicker is, my doctor's partner was refused by my doctor to remove my cast because during summer the only time there is food service work in williamsburg, so my cast on an extra week so he could finish his vacation, even though he had 3 other partners in the office. I will never, ever use this facility ever again. No empathy.
