Great Tavern/Pub with tons of history at the greatest racetrack in America. Connie and the gang at VIR do entertainment with the best of them!

Literally the worst service and the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Waited an hour an a half for food for it to be totally terribly cooked. I come to VIR about a dozen times a year and will never come back here even if it was free.

Fish and chips were pretty good. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced, especially since it is one of the few options available on the VIR campus. Due to COVID restrictions you can order ahead for takeout using a QR code-based menu or you can eat inside. They use every other table inside it seems so it is fairly distanced. Patio was closed at the time we were there (Oct 2020).

This place has history and charm yet consistently delivers an inconsistent experience. The Tavern sit down restaurant is usually good service and the menu has more and better items on it. The bar/pub results in consistency though - slow service, often bordering on neglect. They seem to have plenty of staff but to be fair when the patio is open there may be a lot more customers to service than those of us inside know about.nThe food I get seems to go from inedible (at least they comp'd my meal last time this happened) to mediocre - no matter which side I eat on. I want to love this place and I frequent it out of convenience but find the prices high for the overall & unpredictable experience and quality.
