Friendly and good help. Answered all my questions to the best of there ability. Went back later for something else and saw how understaffed they are. Better hire more people soon before they lose the great help they have now.

Helpful and convenient in our small town! Masks worn in pandemic!

On Friday, June 19th, we started our drive back home to Spokane, WA, from Polebridge, MT. In Elmo, and in Hot Springs, road construction caused us to come to a halt. After hours of stop-and-go to avoid the freshly tarred roads, led by a pilot truck to ensure that we would not drive on the fresh tar, we finally made it through, about 17 miles from Plains. Pretty much as soon as the construction ended, we noticed our car was driving strangely—like we had a flat. We pulled over and put our hazards on, only to discover that our left two tires (and especially the front left tire) were caked in about an inch of wet, sticky, fresh tar and all the gravel and grass it could collect. We were stunned. How did this happen? We followed the pilot vehicle precisely, and didn’t deviate into the off-limits lanes at all. Whatever. We finally got to Plains after stopping to scrape tar off our tire three times with the only metal tool available to us —our car jack—and flat rocks on the side of the road. We arrived at Napa auto parts feeling defeated. We assumed we would need a new tire, and since we have an AWD vehicle, that would mean four new tires. Yikes. The man at Napa (I should have asked his name), was also stumped. He had never seen anything like it before, but recommended we use brake cleaner and a putty knife to try to break it up. He also recommended we check out Baldy Tire for a second opinion. We thanked him as he wished us good luck, and went on our way to Baldy. Just down the road, the man at Baldy Tire was just as helpful and concerned. He recommended we try using a pressure washer at a nearby car wash. The combination of the brake cleaner with the pressure washer did the trick! We were able to clean off most of the tar, and get back on the road home. Although the whole ordeal took hours out of our day, the wonderful customer service we received while trying to solve our problem was exceptional, and probably saved us both from a complete meltdown. Thank you, Plains, MT, for being such a safe haven for us in our time of need.
