Sturtevants of Sun Valley (Warm Springs)

This is a review that hopefully will save you from frustration that I experienced here.nMy wife and I are contractors who love the outdoors. We drove 2 hours to sun valley to go skiing and we had a good day. We decidedly grab a beer so we put up our skis. When we got back, my ski poles were gone. Some rental ski poles were left near my skis and I found the rental number on them and called Sturtevants. The guy was super helpful but told me that he would get my info and I told him it wasn’t a problem and I could bring the ski pole rentals back to their shop. I dropped them off. As I was driving home I got a call from the same guy who was very helpful to tell me someone dropped my poles off. He told me he would put my name on them and place them in the locker for me to come pick them up within the week when I could make it back to Ketchum. Today I made an excuse (5 days later) to head up to Ketchum, grab my poles and see the Sawtooths. I walked in and told them the situation and immediately met with unhelpful poor customer service. The “manager” made a phone call to the other store and while I’m in front of him told the guy on the phone that was okay and that he was just going tell me he can’t help me. He told me that there was nothing he could do. I told him, I got a phone call from someone who works here that my poles were here, if he could just take a look for me. He told me “look, I have 80 lockers here, I’m not going to look through them but will call me if something turned up.”. I understand that in the grand scheme of things, my $100 poles was nothing compared to the other gear, but it is incredibly frustrating when you have many hobbies that are expensive and gear constantly needing to be fixed or replaced, that this company would not even take a few minutes to help me find the poles they told me got turned in and would hold for me. Please don’t support this opportunist company at the bottom of the ski mountain. Go to your local ski shop, support them. Especially when they take time to build their customers and work hard for you.

The folks here are awesome, friendly and helpful. They allow you to store your rented skis right there and the selection is good. Special thanks to Chris (who kept the place open for me past 5 for ski drop off) and Curt who helped with sizing. Highly recommend this place.
