Barleycorn's Public House

This was our second time trying this new place. The first time we waited a long time for our food, and both steaks that were ordered came well done, when that is not what was ordered. Yesterday when we went, the restaurant had a fish odor when we walked in. I almost walked out, because I'm sensitive to smells, but was determined to make the best of it. The smell was noticeable throughout the whole visit. It didn't take away from the food experience though. The chips and dip appetizer was great. I ordered the fish and chips (despite the smell), and it was quite good. It didn't have an overly fishy taste to it. My husband got the shepherd's pie and he liked it. It had a smokey flavor to it. Our waitress was very sweet, but seemed very awkward in her position, she spoke so quietly I could hardly hear her. We were not asked to take our order until after our appetizer was completely finished, which made me nervous, because the first time we came we waited a long time for our food. I was pleasantly surprised when our main entrees came out very quickly. The staff is very nice here. At the end of the day though, I probably would not come back, unless I was in the mood for fish and chips. The menu is too specialized for me to offer enough variety to come back on a regular basis. Definitely worth a try if you're into good drinks and more specialized entrees.

Really cool bar area! The bar is quite large and the wall behind it is backlit. There are a couple of televisions in the bar but I would not classify it as a sports bar at all. Food was good (burger for me, salmon salad for her) as was the service and we had a pleasant time there. It has the feel of a slightly upscale place and the pricing was in line with that if you know what I mean. Regardless, we do plan to go back in the near future!

Excellent environment, excellent service, excellent food, this place is top notch. The owners make you feel welcomed. The staff are very positive people, everyone working together to make sure the end consumer has an excellent time. If you haven't tried this place out, take your family, friends and go check it out! You won't be disappointed.

Was there yesterday with my husband and can't wait to return!!! Quality food, great prices and large portions. I was too full for dessert, so I got it to go!! Nice staff, prompt service, clean and great atmosphere. It is out of our way, but we will be back!!

Everything was perfect. Our waitress was very nice to us and did her job. We had appetizers cocktails dessert and entrees and they all tasted amazing! The flat bread was by far my favorite and the drinks were well made, thank you so much! Will be backud83dude4cud83cudffc
