My family and I stayed in Mackinaw City this weekend but had friends of ours recommend we eat here. I don’t usually write reviews (literally never) but felt I needed to this time and my wife even reminded me. We went friday for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised at how great it was!! Most restaurants up this way have a lot of the same things on their menus and nothing seems to really be homemade, but the gangplank has everything homemade, a wonderful menu and a wonderful staff. The young hostess was very sweet despite others around us that seemed to be not very pleasant and our server was wonderful! I feel bad because i can’t remember how to say her name but it was pronounced on the back of her shirt. She was very attentive even when she was busy.. and seemed to be helping the other servers tables too. She knew everything about the menu and said she worked in the kitchen too and was going to school to be a police officer, we loved talking with her and she was great with both of our kids. Our one daughter has a name not many can pronounce and she stood there for a few minutes and reassured my 8 year old that she will get used to it and it’ll always be a conversation starter, she left my daughter with a huge smile on her face. The food was amazing but our server left us so happy and we will definitely remember her. She has been in our prayers for safety and happiness in her police adventures ever since!! Now for the food... the four of us all had appetizers and meals that were recommended. The animal fries were amazing (add some ranch on the side, you won’t regret it.. server suggestion) I had the cluckin waffle that i haven’t stopped thinking about and my wife had the white fish tacos. Both kids had nuggets and loved them. French fries and sweet potato wedges were both hand cut and the ranch and fry sauce (homemade) amazing!! Chicken nuggets were all white meat and had a nice crunch. Beers were cold and kids loved the lemonade. A great experience and I hope the owners know how great of a place they have. I wish we had one downstate!! Will definitely recommend this to our friends and can’t wait to return!!

My girlfriend and I recently visited St. Ignace and the island and we both said that The Gangplank has the best food (out of about 12 restaurants)! All their food is insanely delicious and I would be a regular everyday (and about 20lbs heavier lol).nnI had their pulled pork sandwich and it was 10/10 delicious and my girlfriend’s chicken sandwich was also a 10. The gator bites were very tasty and “tasted like chicken”. Also, they have various drink specials. Plus, the views are extraordinary!

We found this place in 2019, during the annual car show. We watched the car show drive by while we at delicious food and beer! We ordered the fish tacos (which were awesome!) and fried chicken and waffles.nWe came back in 2020 and the fish tacos are still awesome!!

Was looking for something unique with a fun atmosphere and this place nailed it!!! Not to mention each of their dishes have a unique touch that sets them apart from most restaurants I’ve ever been to. Our waitress Kim recommended the Whitefish Fingers and OMG!! ud83dude0d The fries are cut to order and fried to perfection. My husband ordered the Pulled Pork and the Buffalo Mayo set it apart from other pulled porks. A definite recommend for when you’re in St. Ignace!
