Dissatisfied is an absolute understatement at this point. My son who is three is dealing with severe GI issues; we were actually just hospitalized down town a week ago for 6 days. As of now, his home treatment plan has been failing. I called the office and was given instructions to bring him in for an x-ray today. I checked THREE TIMES to make sure their x-ray equipment was up and working, since I knew it was down on my last visit. I drove from Murfreesboro and was told after entering the x-ray department, that the equipment was still down. Then I was instructed to go to the walk-in clinic in Cool Springs to have the x-ray performed. So I loaded my sick child up again, and we drove and did that. We completed the x-ray and asked for a disc of the images. I just got home for the evening and the disc is blank. My frustration for Vandy is for multiple reasons. 1) The right hand clearly doesn't talk to the left hand. You are Vanderbilt, there is absolutely no reason your x-ray equipment should be down for three months for a pediatric specialty clinic. Get this resolved and quit making parents with sick children drive all over to get help. 2) Have same day slots for specialist appointments, being told the only option is to have my son go to the ER is poor telephone medicine. He was only released from the hospital 6 days ago. Where is the follow up when his medication regimen failed? This is poor continuity of care, especially after a hospitalization. 3) The micro specialist who is supposed see him is still 3 1/2 weeks away. After being hospitalized there was no way to get the appointment a little faster? Overall our stay at the hospital was really good, everyone was wonderful. I now feel like a hot potato with a child who is sick. Their follow up protocols after hospitalization and continuity of care is severely lacking. - Amber Fly
