Dorchester County Animal Control

Today a dog was walking down the middle of 17 near Summerville. I think it was dumped. It was in bad shape, hot, and skin raw. I got the dog and called Dorchester animal control. I took the dog to a woman's house to use her hose to cool the dog off. Pam was an angel and helped me put the dog in her fenced yard. She brought out food and water. Animal control officer came 15 minutes from my call. He did a great job getting the dog in a cage on his truck. You always hear negative feedback on the world today. I thank Dorchester Animal control dispatch operator and the officer for their kindness, caring, and quick response.nnThis dog was saved today. Shame on the family who dumped it. May she be blessed by new owners and be pampered with care. Thank you.

We had to call them about a year and a half ago and they took care of a problem for us. Just called and left a message today, they called back within an hour and are sending an officer out. Great service from these folks. I'm glad Dorchester County takes this seriously.

An absolute joke. No one answers calls on the weekends and if you are lucky enough to get a hold of someone during the week they will do nothing. They tell you to take matters into your own hands to deal with animal. *Edited to add* 11/28/2017- It’s quite annoying that our tax money is paying for a service that literally does nothing. The neighbors dog once again almost killed my cat the other day and AC will NOT answer or return calls or make visits. It’s very frustrating. It’s sad when people will pick animals up and drive them to North Charleston so a NCPD Officer will make sure they make it to Charleston Animal Society.

Had a good experience in November of last year, but can't get anyone to come out or call back.

Useless...never respond when needed.
