We vacation in VA Beach 3 to 4 times a year. We eat at Catch 31 3 to 4 times a year. We order drinks, appetizers, and dinner. We always tip at 20% or more. Tonight was unfortunately the last time we will be eating there. We made a Valentine's Day reservation two months ago. We were seated on a door exiting to the patio. When we were seated, we mentioned to our excellent waiter that there was a breeze. He notified the manager who came over and apologized but said they were booked solid and could not move us. Our tab was $100.87 and as usual, we left $120. We didn't want a freebie. We didn't want a discount. We wanted to be treated as what we are. Great, loyal, dependable customers. We weren't. End of story.
I would give Catch 31 5 star review. However, the host Ashley who seated us was rude and did nothing to accommodate our seating. She stated the booths were for larger parties. Five minutes later a party of two was seated. Our server mikalya was outstanding she tried to accommodate us but we stayed seated because we liked her service. The food was really good.
Went here for dinner last night. My experience was okay. The menu selection was very limited, I guess due to covid ? 2 other parties decided to leave after reviewing the menu options. The food is definitely over priced but expected because it’s located on the Ocean Front. Our server was very attentive & the atmosphere is a nice setting but due to the menu selection and food quality, we won’t be returning.
The food was great but after eating here I became extremely sick for 2 days of my vacation. I read multiple accounts in the reviews just now of the same happening to others. Be careful. The entree I ordered was the branzino, everyone else I was with was fine and food tasted good. Wish I could leave a higher review but it bombed my visit to the beach.
This is a really nice, casual seafood restaurant with a large cocktail list and really decent food menu. The food has always been high quality every time we have been there and the staff was very friendly and accommodating to our dietary restrictions. The spinach artichoke dip is a must have, especially if you add lump crab meat to it. Delicious! We also highly recommend the fish tacos. They are made with blackened salmon and are absolutely delicious. The spicy chicken sandwich is also amazing. With a sweet hot sauce (it reminded me of hot sauce mixed with a whole lot of honey) and bread and butter pickles it is a winner for sure.nnThe staff has always been super friendly and helpful and they are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have a pleasant meal. Sam was our waitress last time we went and she was an absolute pleasure. She was willing to make sure that my family with celiac disease was able to eat gluten free (giving us corn tortilla chips instead of pita and gave us corn tortillas for the fish tacos as well). All in all I would definitely recommend Catch 31 to anyone looking for good, fresh food at reasonable prices in a casual atmosphere with great beach views.
