I waited for more than three hours, while in excruciating pain (tore a tendon in my wrist). When I was finally taken back into the ER, it was to a room with 5’x5’ cubicles (yes, with office style cubicle dividers) and no privacy curtain or door. It took another hour for a “PA” who looked 20, tops, to arrive in the cubicle. While I was waiting, I overheard the PA visit with the patients all around me (because no walls or doors), many of whom were in excruciating pain (one had a dry socket, another a broken arm, and a third, who couldn’t even move, had a herniated disc in his back). The PA told them all to take 800 mg ibuprofen (despite them telling her that they had been doing so, to no avail and with no relief) and then they were sent on their way.nI was told the same thing when they finally got to me. Ibuprofen and ice. Which I had been doing, but I went to the ER because it wasn’t working and was in excruciating pain. Their answer? Take two Tylenol with 600 mg of ibuprofen. I went home (five hours after arriving because I had to wait so long) and spent three sleepless nights before the pain subsided enough for me to finally be able to get a few hours of sleep.nThe conditions here are substandard at best. I’ve been to my fair share of military medical facilities, between illnesses and emergencies with my three kids and my spouse, but this was by far the worst!!!! This is third world country horrible. Completely unacceptable.nParking is also nonexistent. We had to park at the VA medical center and walk all the way to the ER...thank God it was my arm that was injured and not my leg!!!

They have the absolute best OB doctors and staff i have met in my 34 years of life. Doctor Chung, Cannon, and Miller. They make everything go smoothly and talk you through every step of the way. Super and easy and out going! It was my pleasure to be able to meet them ❤❤ i wouldn't have wanted anyone else to do my procedures. Thank you all for everything .nnLots of lovenK.L.B

I was stationed in the Army on Schofield Barracks from 2016-2019. My wife had our first daughter at Tripler in 2016 and it was the most traumatic experience both of us will ever have in a hospital setting. My wife was past 40 weeks, had severe preclampsia throughout her whole pregnancy. I mean severe, and the staff didn't act on it or think it was a big deal..negligence at its finest. My wife was induced and pumped full of pitocin and what ever stimulating drugs more than one should ever be. There were so many people in and out of the room, sometimes it seemed like 20 at a time, and a bunch of inexperienced trainees at that. The head doctor was letting a doctor in training do everything as if my wife was a training dummy. It took 3 days for my daughter to be born and we both know that the negligence and incompetence from the staff there is why my daughter is the way she is today. She was severely stressed and lacked oxygen and now is special needs, of course we love her but feel as if my daughter was robbed of a normal life. Now there was a lot more that I could get into but I'm just writing a quick review. On the other hand my second daughter was born at Tripler in 2018 and we chose to go through the midwives program and it was the best experience for both of us. The midwives were superb and the labor and delivery was smooth sailing. There were only 2 midwives, my wife and I in the room and no chaos like the experience with the doctor and staff like what happened with my firstborn. We do greatly appreciate the midwives working there but as far as the doctors and staff, it seems that they are more interested in getting people in and out of there without thinking of any consequences it can have on the whole delivery process..lack of care or attention and I am sure many, many, many, people unfortunately had similar experiences as we did..if I could go back in time I would have taken heed to all the horror stories I heard before choosing Tripler..

I try to make my reviews fun, but this place doesn't deserve it. This place gets two stars only because once you finally see a doctor they are empathetic and knowledgeable, and the nurses are trying their hardest to smile while being overworked. The scheduling here is atrocious. I have spent months in between doctor visits just to spend more months waiting for a treatment because they are understaffed and poorly managed. I haven't walked without pain for over a year.nnThe employees (civilian and military) working here treat visitors like the plague in both the emergency department and specialty clinics, and that's with my rank while in uniform (I can only imagine what our junior enlisted and junior officers go through). I had a Specialist tell me my injury can't be too bad because he had the same thing and it was already better. In the emergency room after an injury at PT they literally told me to take motrin and walk it off (as I hobbled out the door) without imagery or even an actual examination because it was an historic injury.nnThis facility needs a drastic overhaul of mid-level and higher leadership, more funding, and more staff. I try hard not to get upset with the staff with direct patient contact because you can see they are overworked and stressed, but still putting on a smile for you. If people only knew the truth about our 'free healthcare' in the military.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Please if you can, I’d recommend going elsewhere. The staff has proved highly incompetent from mynvery first visit. I’m expecting and it seems like since COVID things have justngotten progressively worse with the hospital’s policies and inconsistencies. I recently had an appointment for an ultrasound in which the personnel working at the front door of the hospital rudely asked me if I was “in labor” and since i wasn’t that my spouse couldn’t accompany me to my appointment with my high risk doctor. They claimed the hospital wasn’t accepting any “visitors” which didn’t make sense because my spouse was my sponsor and NOT a visitor. They also rudely asked me if I displayed any signs of Covid (which I didn’t but)if I did, I wouldn’t be allowed in the hospital either. (Weird how they don’t want you at a hospital if you’re sick).nnAt my recent ultrasound the technician was extremely impatient and unprofessional and spent an hour taking tons of pictures of my baby’s anatomy but stated that she couldn’t tellnme the gender because “she didn’t know” and I should come back in a month...(in a month I’ll be 30 weeks).nnAlthough my actual OB is very nice and knowledgeable, the staff supporting him in primary care seem very uninformed and unhappy with what they do which carries over into their customer interactions. Each time i’ve interacted with supporting or administrative staff they’ve been far less than kind. I understand that with the arrival of Covid came a new process that may not be necessarily perfect, however the hospital staff should be understanding of patients who may not be aware of their last minute policy changes.
