Steer ClearnnTonight I made my second visit to the Longhorn Grill and Saloon. It has been well over a year since my last visit and I didn’t go back because it took two hours to order and get two hamburgers. I’m willing to forgive so my wife and I decided to give it a try.nnWhen we arrived the host was yakking on her cell phone and not giving us any eye contact. We browsed the dinning room and saw it was wasn’t even half full. About 5 minutes later the host acknowledged our presence and told us it would be at least 5 minutes. In the mean time she socialized with the bar staff in another room, gabbed with the waitresses and talked on her phone. Finally after 10 to 15 minutes she cleaned up a couple of menus and showed us to a table that had been open and clean the whole time.nnAfter about 5 minutes a bus boy cleaning the table next to us got us some water and said the waitress would be with us soon. We looked at the menu and saw it had a nice mix of BBQ and American food. Looking around the dinning room a couple other table had food that look fairly good but nothing special. There were several other tables with diners that had finished their meal and were waiting for their slip. No one shows up. The waitresses with when in the kitchen, and I could see through the window had long conversations with the cooks. Ten minutes later two waitresses came out and cleared a table for two. They both had to make two trips to get the two plate and a couple glasses off the table. Again they disappear. My wife would have liked a drink but there was not drink menu in the menu book. The other diners were looking pretty frustrated but no one comes. We catch glimpses of waitresses running around to the bar and visiting with the host but offering no service.nnIt’s been 25 minutes and nothing is happening. I look at my wife and ask , “Have enough of this”? She said, “I thought you’d never ask”. We leave, no one cares or even approaches us. Needless to say we’re never going back.nnI don’t know why anyone would try to run a business this way. I doubt if they will last very long with service like this. Save yourself a lot of frustration and don’t go to the Longhorn.nnThere should be no starts as there was no service.
My friend and I stopped in for a drink and lunch. We sat at the bar, had great service, great drinks an lunch. I had the tumacacori salad and my friend had a cheese burger. The salad and the honey balsamic were excellent. The greens and everything on the salad were fresh. The honey balsamic dressing was very tasty. My friend was very pleased with her burger. She said it was just what she was hoping for. I will definitely be going back.
Prices are very reasonable. Service is great, food was, well 50/50. Two of us thought the food was great, two thought it was lacking. The Reuben did no come across as corned beef, but sauerkraut was good. Med rare steak was so charred on the outside it overpowered the taste. Burger and cheese steak were good. Fries were not quite done. I'd probably give it another try.
This place has been open and closed many times in the 30 plus years I have lived in southern Arizona. The new ownership is phenomenal! We stopped in on the way home after visiting friends in Arivaca. Food is made from scratch in house and the taste is incredible! Will definitely be back for more!
Good food for carnivores. The homemade potato chips were awesome. Good service. Will definitely go back.
