Equitas Health Dayton Medical Center

PLEASE READ BEFORE DOING DENTALnnIt is hard to write this review since I respect Equitas' mission for inclusive and affordable services. While the medical staff is nice, using their dental services has costed me over $1,000 to repair what they did.nnShortly before COVID hit in 2020, I went in as a new patient to get x-rays. The staff was nice and helpful. However, I have attempted to call their Financial Manager for over a year and have never had any of my voicemails returned. I was told she only works on Mondays, but did not pick up the phone on Mondays or return voicemails I left.nnI returned in March 2021 since a tooth cracked. The dentist put in a filling, but it was the most painful dental experience in my life (I'm not new to the mild discomfort caused my dental procedures). The dentist would not let me rest my jaw, to the point my jaw was shaking and I could no longer extend it as she kept telling me to open wider.nnLess than 24 hours after, the filling fell out. I called the dental office 5 times and left 4 voicemails over three days and no one picked up the phone or returned my call. The pain from the procedure only got worse, due to later finding out that I had a tooth abscess since they did not perform the procedure properly. I missed days of work, and was left with no aid since it carried over through the weekend.nnI now have to have a root canal and a crown put in, at the very least. I am appalled by how inefficient Equitas is in the simple task of answering the phone during business hours or returning voicemails. I will NEVER return to Equitas and instead switched to Dayton Comprehensive Dental, who were able to get me in and treated within three days. Additionally LANU Dental in West Chester was very helpful in fitting me in for an emergency appointment where they determined the cause of my pain and the botched procedure I received from Equitas.

I go to Equitas for everything but my specialist. Have not had an issue for anything. Only place in dayton that looks at me with respect and care. When I need a specialist fast. They find me one that respects me also. I never get misgendered at all. Why would I want to go anywhere else?

They do a fantastic job and they help me with everything I need help with great people I’m glad they’re my Caregiver

Equitas is a great company in general however this office is not. They are absolutely horrible at communication and patient care. Myself and my partner have had multiple experiences where it's months until someone finally calls us, if they do at all. We have to call quite a bit to get a simple update and get sent to voicemail and never hear back. The pharmacy here tells us more of what's going on than the actual doctors office.nnIf you are trans and weigh a little more than you probably should, beware that the doctor here is judgey and gatekeeps transcare. That is not the way it should be handled in order to get the hormones/care you need to survive and it honestly has a negative impact on mental health (It has contributed to my anxiety to seek healthcare).nnIt's unfortunate that they are my/our only source of trans care in dayton, better off driving all the way to columbus or cincy.

A girl picked up my phone was kinda rush. She sound like don't know about some basic questions that i asked and also didn't want to talk. That's fine tho. Probably they just don't care because they just answer phone quickly and next.
