Great bar and grill and awesome tasting food! Both dinner and breakfast was fantastic! Cabin was in need of some TLC for sure and we had a non-working microwave. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our mid-week stay! Fishing wasn't that good but it was -30 when we left in the morning! Caught some little sauger enough for a nice meal!
It seemed once they got our money they forgot we were there. The transportation to our fish house was a wooden shed on a trailer. They said the guide would check in during the day an only seem him at quitting time. The water froze in our cabin and when we called the front office we were told to go to the bar an find someone to help get it thawed out. I would recommend a different resort
Making the reservation, I was told we were to be put into a new sleeper with a TV that is run off of an inverter and batteries because I was bringing my 3 year old son. I called/messaged them 3 times to confirm that fact, along with check if I needed to bring batteries etc. Upon arriving, I was informed by the guide we needed to rent a generator to use the tv. The tv was unusable to us, without spending another 50 dollars per day! Our guide did hook up a generator to charge the batteries in the sleeper, that run the lights. So, during that time, we were allowed a few ours to use the tv or outlets.nWe stayed for 3 nights. Our day of arrival we checked in at noon and were taken out to the lake. We were told we would get a check in from the guide before dark,, this never happened. But they are busy... The second day our guide was very attentive and even sought out special bait for us, for a fee. The third day was bad again...nThat day we saw no guide the whole day! The guides come to provide water, bait, tp, trash removal, charge batteries, and new trash bags for trash and to use as liners for the outhouse. These are essential services! The outhouse liners especially, considering I had my 12 year old daughter along. Getting to 5 o'clock and we were down to one liner. I called the resort to request bags and was told that the guides went home and too bad! 45 minutes later I called again pretty irate, and was hung up on 3 times! We finally talked to the monotonous manager, Steve. He made sure we got our bags. He had no concern for our batteries to be charged, even though they were so low the lights wouldn't work!nFishing was... ok. We had a great bite the day of check in. Then nothing for 2 days. The day of checkout, we caught a few more. 99% of all the fish were 11 inch sauger or less. Half were closer to 6 inch. We did get an eelpout and a northern. These were relatively small as well. Considering that their website has a fishing report and they make it seem as if everyone is catching something with size!... I do realize that it is fishing, but... that was misleading. The guide even told us that the bite has not been good, nor have any big fish been caught!nOn the very plus side, their pizzas are awesome!
Great food in the bar on other occasions and good craft beer selection, but the Saturday fish fry was a huge disappointment. The fish was cold and rubbery as if it had all been fried before 5 and held in a warmer for a couple of hours before being brought out to the serving area. It did not appear that there was any kind of heat being used to keep the food above 140 degrees out there, nor was there any refrigeration for the cold food. It was just sitting there in bowls. For 98.00 for the 4 of us plus a tip I expected much more.
Food was ok not much to choose from definitely more Bar then food hospitality was great can't argue that per the interactions with the owners and staff stayed in there cabin was clean not alot a room there was 4 of us in a 3 bedroom and the kitchen and living room were in one very small we went on a 3 night 2 day fishing and caught 2 fish in 2 days they kept us in the same fish house both days didn't switch anything around I chose to drive out myself which was nice some resorts don't allow that the cable in the room cut in and out the entire time we where there I chose to leave my second day in I just wasn't impressed with the place and for the $615.00 per person and mind you this is a week day so goes up on weekends just disappointing and was our first trip up going to try going up again but never to this place so people beware I know you can't predict fishing but the rest of the issues are very fixable and the TV also was very small 17 inch maybe a 20. #4disappointedfisherman
