Petland St. Louis

Didn't know if we were buying a pet or a used car!!nI don't typically do negative reviews but I think it's important people know what the process is. We went to look at a puppy which was adorable and the Petland employees were super friendly, helpful and kind. When we decided we were interested in purchasing the puppy we were sticker shocked at the $4000.00 price tag. We asked how much room there is for negotiation and it immediately felt like we were at a car dealership. They asked how we would be paying, cash or financing and what our top dollar to pay for the puppy would be. We said we didn't feel comfortable giving a number bit did tell them we wouldn't be financing. The employee then said she had to talk to the owner and a few minutes later comes back to say the owner has to have a number to start with. We tell her we weren't expecting 4000 and had originally figured it would be around 1500 since that's the price they go for with breeders around the area. She once again goes to call the owner and comes back to let us know the owner will only come down to $3800 so clearly wasn't willing to sell the puppy to a loving home and was only interested in getting the 4000. We left very disappointed and so sad for the 30-40 puppies that were there that are clearly an overly inflated price tag to them.

Called to get a simple price on one of the puppies and find out if he had puppy shots etc because my friend is AD military and had a patient at the time. The lady who answered the phone was insanely rude to me and was condescending. She said “it’s a puppy not a product” and while I fully agree with her statement it was unnecessary and extremely bold coming from a woman who works for what most would say is a puppy mill. Super uncalled for considering I have 4 fur babies who were all either adopted or rescued. Learn how to speak professionally or maybe don’t be in a customer service roll. Godspeed. ❤ufe0f

I have been here multiple times and no one has seemed more energetic and helpful than Makayla. The last time we were in I saw her helping little kids get the small animals out of the cage to play with. She also helped me find a dog toy that my dog absolutely loves!

Two stars because I love my puppy however, Petland sold us an 8 week old Standard Australian Shepherd that weighed in at 6.5 pounds, they said that he was ‘a little small.’ The average weight for this breed at this age we have come to find out is 10 pounds. Our puppy was sick for a little bit however has since gotten better and is doing fine apart from the fact that he has not yet gotten over 10 pounds and he is almost 3 months old, he is supposed to be between 14 and 20 pounds at 12 weeks!!! He is sweet and very well fed and is not scrawny by any means, but at this point Petland has sold us a dog that half the size of the dog that we thought we were buying and charged us a small fortune for him too! Instead of being between 40 and 60 pounds we may have a small 20 pound dog. We are furious and cannot believe that Petland wouldn’t disclose to us that we were not buying a small standard sized dog, but literally less than half the dog we thought we were buying. We have to adjust all the dreams that we had for him and are devistated. So to any buyers beware! You may not get the dog that your paying top dollar for.

Great pets (puppies, bunny, birds) to play with.... they have the best collection in town. Also impressed with staff as they suggest and recommend the right thing.
