I am currently admitted to The Veterans Hospital New Orleans.nMy nurses are first rate, and provide excellent care.nI have a private room with a view of Canal Street Street Car LinenThe Food is as good as any restaurant. Or better. I really can't say enough about the food.nNo fewer than six doctors have visited me every day. They answer all of my questions, and keep me informed of my plan of care.nnThank You VA for taking such good care of this old Vet.nnMy cardiac surgery is tomorrow. Leaving this review now, . . . The sheer incompetence with which this place is run is staggering. Yeah, they've got a pretty new building, but that doesn't fix the 6-month waits to see a physician, hour and a half waits to fill a prescription, and running out of medications and failing to mail them on time with zero communication on the delay. I feel fortunate that I have decent private insurance to use to get treatment for any serious life-threatening conditions. If I were depending on the VA, I would have been dead by now.nnThe Baton Rouge and Dallas shooters (both of whom were veterans) said the same thing. They both said that they could not get any help from the VA. After begging these people for help, they then went on to commit heinous crimes. You would think that, with such serious incidents happening so close to the New Orleans VA and with there being 3 veterans a day committing suicide, that there would be more of an effort to improve the system. Unfortunately, that is obviously not the case.

I was apart of this hospital while it transitioning to this current location and it’s such an upgrade. My primary doctor (I was notified that she left SE va system while being out here in Houston) was the best!! I loved my primary, my nurses, front desk, and most of the staff in this VA. Unfortunately I moved away 3 years ago but I’m planning on moving back soon. I had grown on them and they grew on me, I dreaded leaving because I received such great medical care. As a Veteran, I definitely recommend their services.

Outstanding service. Doctors and nurses were friendly. Vast improvement over the previous location.

I have to say with all the nightmares of the past and long waiting, along with rude workers, not Doctors by the way, I've gone twice and had no wait at all. Once was in the morning on a Monday. I would add to that when I called the number to get primary care the guy who answered the phone was extremely rude and just transferred me without saying hold on. I was still talking and was going to say thanks. I could tell hes done this many times. He seemed aggravated like I was bothering him. There is also not one picture of the President on the wall that I saw. Another experience was primary care. The head doctor was incredibly comforting and she was born to help Vets.
