I LOVE home made, personal craft stores from good folk trying to make an honest living. The lady running this trading post during our visit, was just that! A rare gem! I PRAISE the Lord for!
If you take a trip to visit Andy Griffiths hometown in Mt Airy, NC take a 40 minute drive up to what was once Mayberry, VA. This structure was once the post office of Mayberry. It is very aged, but does have restrooms on the side of the building and serves as a nice general store. They have a surprising selection of books and some T-shirts.
Last fall my family and I took a picnic to this place. They have 2 picnic tables outside. And it was stuff I packed from home and frankly was the best and cheapest meal we ever had while on the parkway. The store is small but been there forever and is a tradition for us. Very sweet little woman runs it. They have clothes,magnets,crystal's,toys, and snacks. Definitely worth the stop.
Interesting place, now we can say we have been there
If you like old stuff this is a cool place to stop. We enjoyed it and bought a good fried apple pie. Nice selection of preserves.
