We were excited to book an outdoor table to celebrate a birthday, and try The Pine Room. It was a big disappointment when we arrived for our 6:30 p.m. reservation, and were told there was no table for us because two parties seated at 4:30 had not yet left.nWe offered the hostess some help with her situation. It seemed she needed it ... she didn’t make eye contact, and didn’t offer us any alternatives. The manager came by, spoke with her, and moved on to ? helping the servers deliver food!nSo after 5-10 minutes of on & off checking with the hostess, and calling other restaurants to check their outdoor seating availability, we moved on to Billy’s, and tried hard to salvage our celebratory evening.
Although we had a reservation we were initially sat right next to an awkward eye level bar-top. After protest we were sat at a much better table with a close view of the open kitchen. Our waitress wasn't personable at all, however another waitress, the food, and the drinks were all amazing. The pimento cheese dip with jalapeños was delicious. My wife's hanger steak was a juicy masterpiece paired with spinach and potatoes. My whole fish was an unexpected presentation but absolutely enjoyable paired with spinach and potatoes. Although we were slightly rushed from our protested table, if we had any other waitress it would have been a five star experience. We hope that Madeline will either change her attitude, or not be employed there for our future reservations. Our visit was definitely not up to part for the experience expected at The Hotel Roanoke.
Very pleasant.nOur server was efficient and attentive.nSide dishes very limited, if you don't want fries.nFood was very good.nC19 is limiting the availability of condiments. But! Better cautious than irresponsible.
Fantastic scratch made food and vintage cocktails! Homemade ketchup was a real tasty surprise!
Love the new atmosphere but miss the dining area being able to hang out in. Also if busy it takes forever for the waitress to come by. If not busy it is great.
