Oil Creek Outfitters

I stopped in some years ago and the owner is very obnoxious and rude. He maybe very knowledgeable but the is no need to act like a know it all. My brother and a friend of his stopped in and once again rude and obnoxious. Its truly a shame because I would prefer to shop local but I will never go there again. You own a business sir that relies on customers you might want to work on your customer service skills.

I've fished Oil Creek for years and have always found Mike to be friendly and outgoing. His advice is always spot-on! I took my grandson fly fishing for the first time recently and Mike stopped by the river later that evening to see if he could help out. I feel sorry for him when I see people monopolizing his time pumping him for information and then leaving without buying so much as a few flies.

Not a big shop like some others, but has everything needed to keep you on the water. Mike is a great guy and offers plenty of advice and knowledge. I try to stop in every time I'm fishing in the area.

You could not possibly ask more from a fly shop than what Mike offers at oil creek outfitters. This isn't an orvis store but a real fly shop that has everything you need to have a great day on the water.nMost of all, he has decades of experience with his creek and knows it and it's bug life intimately. My family and I have been visiting since I was very young and Mike still had his shop in the park. He would walk down to the creek after closing and offer tips on good holes, techniques and fly selection.nThe oil creek fishery is big enough to offer years of exploration yet accessible enough to get on the fish on your first trip. The parking is super convenient for the most popular holes and offers permanent public restrooms. There are very interesting historical sites and long bike (or walking) trails in the area to keep the non fishing members of your group happy.nI have never had a bad experience with him or his river. If you are driving from a distance, I would recommend calling first because the creek can be temperamental with rainfall. Mike will be very honest about the fishability of the river.nThis is a great river with real trout fishing and only a couple hours from north east Ohio.

Edit 6/17/19: Mike has now closed down his store and is preparing to move to Florida! He will be doing a yard sale this Saturday and Sunday (22nd & 23rd) from 8-12 both days.nnMike is super knowledgable and experienced but he won't tell you that himself because he's so down to earth. His hand-tied flies are quality and effective. He is super nice and helpful for all things fly fishing, beginner to advanced. Ended up chatting with him for 2 hours because the shop was slow and I was eager to learn! Bottom line, go see Mike!
