My family and I visited Nantucket in May 2020, and stayed at the Nantucket Hotel. The hotel and the weather was amazing!! Downtown Nantucket was so quaint and refreshing. We traversed from shop to shop and restaurant to restaurant everyday while skipping along the cobble stones. By the end of our stay, we realized we had exhausted all dining and entertainment options. Little did we know there was an amazing establishment mid island, The Rat Palace. The gentlemen tending bar was a delight and the atmosphere was contagious. After gouging on local sea fare downtown all week it was refreshing to chow down on some fresh, deep fried chicken strips. They make all of their own sauces but the chicken is so fresh you may not need any. I actually think I saw a chicken run through the backyard but my sister thinks I’m crazy. Anyway, please keep this place in mind towards the end of your stay. We even nibbled on our doggy bag while sailing towards the cape on rocky seas. My uncle got sick on the boat and blamed it on the food, but he also got sick on the little teacup ride at Disney World. I’ll be back at The Rat Palace in 2021. What a vacation!!!

My Cape Air flight was delayed. Don't get me started on them. I was looking for a great airport bar to pass some time and all they had was a diner at the Nantucket Memorial Airport. Not happening chief. So I looked up nearby watering holes and discovered The Rat Palace. Did not like the name at first sight, but since it was easily walkable from the terminal I decided to check it out. Boy was I lucky! The staff and other patrons were more than happy to accommodate me during my delay. In fact after a few beers at The Rat Palace, I called Cape Air and demanded a free upgrade on the last flight of the day... which they obliged. Good things happen when you go to The Rat Palace. Highly recommend! Just watch out for the guy with the weed whacker during your visit. They keep it tight
