Awful hostess, made a reservation 3 weeks ahead . We requested a great view table and instead shoved into a corner with zero view and seats higher than table. Oysters were great but so many restaurants have incredible oysters. We left after our one drink, cucumber martini was the only plus. Don’t waste your money until they have better management !
Our dinner was delicious and the ambiance was beautiful. However, I would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for our waiter who was not very nice. After waiting more than 30 minutes between our first course and entree, my husband politely asked our waiter if he would check on our entrees. His answer was brusque and inappropriate.....”it’s very busy, what do you want?” After that, he never asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu or coffee. It was my birthday and I know my husband had made him aware before we sat down. Another woman had a birthday and was brought a small dessert with a candle and this waiter and several others sang happy birthday. For me, he just brought the little dessert....no singing...I guess we were being punished for asking him about our entree. On top of that, a 20% gratuity was already added to our bill. I have been to many restaurants and never had the gratuity added when there was only 2 people dining. We usually always give a 20% gratuity anyway, but in this case I don’t think it was warranted. It was disappointing that such a lovely restaurant would allow this kind of reception from their waiter.
Just as phenomenal as I remembered. Cru is perhaps one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in the world. Chic and boujee with mismatched upholstered chairs in stripes of yellow or felt blue, all seated up to tables overlooking the wharf. Perfect drink menu, extensive wine list, impeccable service.nnBut the food? Oh. My. God. Best lobster roll I've ever had. Seriously. Buttery brioche blanketing large claws lightly dressed and topped with pickled onions. The crab cocktail is also out of this world and a must order.nnThanks for continuing to drag me back to Nantucket from LA year after year Cru, I love you.
Anyone who gives this 5 stars, has clearly never experienced a true 5 star restaurant. My family and I were told this was the best restaurant on the island so we made arrangements to make a reservation the week of our stay. We were shuffled to our table outside at a rickety wooden table, with dirty utensils on the ground beneath our table. Chairs were super uncomfortable. Wine selection was limited, and definitely not up to par with the price point. Best part was the seafood tower. Entrees were average at best. Would not recommend for dinner.
The lobster roll (served hot) was amazing. The chef is a master baker so it was no surprise that the bun was perfect and such a treat. Pricey but worth it.
