If you are looking for a place to deliver — AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. The doctors here in L&D are rude, condescending, cold, and dismissive. They refuse to consider the whole picture of mother and baby health, especially where mental health is concerned. They will give you the run around and not give adequate explanations when you ask for a reason behind a certain test or procedure. If you have concerns, they go in one ear and out the other and are ignored, never addressed, and never followed up on. If you dare to voice those concerns or question anything they’d like to do, they will proceed to ignore you for the rest of your stay. “Patient advocacy” is a joke here. When you ask for what you need, you’ll be met with lies as to why people “can’t” help you when really they are just unwilling to do so. I’ve been hospitalized here for two days and requested a transfer to another level 3 facility in the area and they refuse to transfer me. They will make me sign out against medical advice and leave me on my own to go in through ER to be admitted elsewhere as punishment for being dissatisfied with their not at all compassionate, short-sided “care.” Thankfully, I have already spoken with staff at two other level 3 facilities in the area that are nice, caring, and have already listened to and considered my concerns more thoroughly in a 15 minute phone conversation than anyone has bothered to do in 2 days being here. The AMITA staff is leaving me stuck here for another 2 days however, however, because apparently obtaining my medical records, which I need to bring with me myself because they refuse to transfer me, is somehow impossible on the weekend? Guess they’re trying to suck as much money out of me as possible before I can get myself somewhere better for the rest of my hospitalization. Great priorities. PLEASE do yourself a favor and look ANYWHERE else before deciding to come here. Pregnancy is hard and stressful enough without receiving awful care and being made miserable in the event that, God forbid, things start to get complicated

2 weeks ago we were induced at St. Alexius and we’re there for about 4/5 days between the induction, delivery, and our baby needing photo therapy. I cannot day enough good things about the people working on the labor and delivery and mother baby floors!! My husband and I were astounded by the level of care the staff had for us, as if we were family, one nurse even saying we were like family now.nnI want to shout out Alli on the labor and delivery floor who works nights. She was outstanding and I wish I would have gone into labor just 2 hours earlier for her to be able to deliver our son. Also, Wendy on the mother baby floor working day shift. She was amazing and was so helpful and kind when our son had to do photo therapy. Roxanne, a patient tech on mother baby was great as well, always checking to see if we needed anything.nnThe food was not great, they even forgot to bring up my husbands order once and after 2 hours we had to call for another order.

Everytime i’m waiting 1-2 hours past the appointment time set. Usually set around noon so i really just don’t understand, what’s the point of even scheduling an appointment? No point, go to a different hospital, one where they take ethics seriously, one where the doctors actually remember their oaths. Kinda makes me wonder where they got their degrees from. 0/10, You make the TSA look good.

This review is strictly regarding experience with labor and delivery and birth certificate departments.nSome staff are great and enjoy their jobs but the particular nurse we had the day of our baby's delivery was terrible. She was very cold and could tell she did not enjoy her work. She knew my wife was in a lot of pain during the labor and took extremely long time notifying the doctor when we requested to see him. She also failed to use an ice pack to numb our baby's foot prior to drawing blood sample for glucose test which was very painful for the baby. Using an ice pack is a standard procedure and was followed by all other nurses.nAlso a lady from the birth certificate department messed up the spelling of our baby's name and ignoring hospital internal rules submitted it to the State without my wife's final review and approval. Although they did fix it, allegedly, with the state they said I am on my own with trying to fix this with a social security office. After I emailed them and said that this would take hours for me trying to get ahold of anyone at social security office and that they need to get this corrected for me since its their mistake, birth certificate department office stopped responding to my emails.nOverall very poor experience with AMITA in Hoffman Estates.
